How should a TEC-9 be fired? Like any pistol with one hand over the other, or like a SMG with one hand on the grip and the other somewhere between the magazine and barrel shrouds? --[[User:Devang.dn|Devang.dn]] 06:45, 11 March 2011 (MSK) | How should a TEC-9 be fired? Discussion
"Since it is unlikely that any police department would BUY a TEC-DC9 as an official duty weapon, there were virtually NO post-86 full auto conversions done on this model."
- I don't know if that statement is true, I was browsing on Gunbroker a while ago and they had a AMD-65 Assault Rifle as a post-86 dealer sample and I don't think and police department in the USA uses and AK variant. User: AdAstra2009
- Well the casual AMD-65 (which is a RARE gun) is interesting, but not proof of the fallacy of that statement. We have pre-86 AMD-65s in inventory, but those that didn't make the cut off date, had to be registered as Post 86 samples. Ultimately it's simple enough to register a converted TEC-DC9 as a post 86 sample, but no one does it because there are so many Pre-86 TEC-9s in the chain of commerce of the movie industry. Of course I will remove that statement when presented with definite proof. Thanks for the note. MoviePropMaster2008 03:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting, thanks for the reply. BTW Heres the specific one on gunbroker I was talking about http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=117709776 User: AdAstra2009
- I knew a state trooper who owned a converted full-auto AR-15 A2 rifle and a converted full-auto MAC-10 in 9mm. He was a nice guy but owning those wasn't the most honest thing to do.
TEC DC9 conversions
Not to muddy the waters any more, but as I said before, I still believe that there are 'few' complete post 86 full auto conversions of the TEC-DC9 since it came out four years after the 86 machine gun ban and there are just so many Pre 86 transferable TEC9s and KG9/99s floating around. But that doesn't mean that there are none. I am sure there are some, but statistically I was also referring to the possibility of them appearing in films being so much lower than a TEC-9 since why would there be a ton of conversions of that gun?
Well I just ran into something that totally muddies the waters. When I was in a motion picture Class III (full auto) vault, I noticed a bunch of lower receiver assemblies (marked TEC-9) that were full auto and a wall full of TEC-9, TEC-9 Mini, TEC-9K, TEC-DC9, etc. barreled upper receivers. Since these parts all fit and ANY barreled upper receiver can fit to the lower in the Intratec series, there is no way to tell what gun it is. I did NOT find ANY full auto lowers marked DC9, however I did find some movie guns were the armorer used a DC9 blank adapted upper and mated it to a registered full auto TEC-9 lower. When the armorers start doing THAT, then it will nary be IMPOSSIBLE to determine which gun it is other than the cosmetic features on the upper.
So I am removing the quote about few DC9s since now it seems that armorers are putting DC9 uppers on TEC-9 lowers. MPM2008
Suppressed TEC-9
Has anyone got any images of a TEC-9 with an in-built suppressor?--The Mercenary 19:30, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
Heres one
- - Well Mr. unknown, thanks for addressing the request, even if it's with a picture that A) isn't that good in terms of detail and B) is probably jacked from somewhere else on the net. StanTheMan 03:05, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
The picture was taken to answer the question posted above. It was taken with my phone camera and is not huge in detail. It is a real deal Intratec suppressed Class III firearm that is legally and lawfully owned by me. The last time is was fired was at the 2008 Silencer Shoot in Georgia. For having a rep as being a sub standard machine gun, it drew a fairly big crowd. This maybe the only example in existence as i have near heard or seen of another integrally suppressed Tec. I have personally seen examples of Tec's with "removable" suppressors made for other type weapons that simply thread onto the factory threaded barrel end. This is not that type of setup, but a truly purpose built suppressor set up with the barrel in the can. Intratec SMG are nothing more then a very expensive toy (when you can find one for sale and meet the strict federally regulated guidelines). This example shoots fine and is very quite. Mr Unknown.
- - The quality and mainly angle of the gun in your previous pic just wasn't all that great. Your second picture is far better, however, and since it is not a jacked image (didn't mean to sound like a dick there, but honestly you can never tell about that kinda thing these days), sounds like everything's good, my mistake there. I never even knew they even had an integrally-suppressed TEC-9 like that - Very interesting, and indeed a exceedingly rare piece. Thanks for sharing it. StanTheMan 22:38, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Reliablity?
Hey my dad's friend had one of these for sale and me and my dad are contemplating buying it. But first I just wanna know if it's a piece of shit or not and was wondering what anyone had to say about it. --ColonelTomb 02:15, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Proper way to hold it.
