Yes we know that the WASR 2 is a US Imported semi auto rifle, but so far, we don't know the indigenous name of the rifle overseas, since there is ample proof that these rifles are being built select fire and used in other parts of the world.  Currently we use the term WASR-3 (for the 5.56mm model) since nearly identical rifles have been used in many British helmed films (blonde wood, AKM style sights and blocks, Weiger Style magazine, etc.) for lack of a better term until we can get more information on the foreign AK rifles. WASR 2 is not built in select-fire and used in other parts of the world.  The WASR series is SOLELY built as SEMI-AUTO for US importation ONLY.  They are MODIFIED single-stack magazine rifles..which is why they have steel plates welded in the magwell so they can handle double-stack magazines.  They are the replacement for the "SAR" serious..which stands for, funnily enough "Semi-Auto Rifle".
And also funnily enough..the SARs were built better.

They come to the US in single-stack (around max of 10-15 rounds) form where Century Arms modifies them to accept double-stack magazines.  The AK in BO is not based on the WASR..since the WASR doesn't have magwell dimples..and the AK in the game clearly does.  That right there shoots down the idea that it has anything remotely in common with a WASR other than it's an AK.
If anything the in-game AK is modelled after an airsoft gun..since that's all the studio has anyway.  But it sure as heck isn't any WASR.

WASR 2

And also funnily enough..the SARs were built better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WASR_series_rifles They come to the US in single-stack (around max of 10-15 rounds) form where Century Arms modifies them to accept double-stack magazines. The AK in BO is not based on the WASR..since the WASR doesn't have magwell dimples..and the AK in the game clearly does.
