The Running Man is a 1987 science fiction action film set in the near future and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Ben Richards, a wrongly convicted police helicopter pilot who is forced to compete in a sadistic television reality game show run by a powerful game show host Damon Killian (Richard Dawson, who himself was the real life game show host of the Family Feud). The film was based on a Stephen King short story (written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) and was directed by Paul Michael Glaser.
