Starman is a 1984 science fiction film directed by John Carpenter and stars Jeff Bridges as an alien who has traveled to earth in response to the Earth invitation found in the Voyager space probe. Upon his arrival, he takes the form of a woman's dead husband and the two proceed to travel across the United States on their way to a crater which could provide a way home. The Starman then picks it up and carries it when he takes Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen) on the roadtrip. Jenny is later seen firing it in the air to ward off the men who beat up Starman.
