The following weapons were used in the film Flyboys:
Machine Guns
Lewis gun
Reed Cassidy (Martin Henderson) fires a Lewis aircraft gun from his plane.
Hotchkiss M1914
An M1914 Hotchkiss is seen during the "bent ammunition" scene, although the heavy and strip-fed Hotchkiss gun was not usually used as an aircraft gun.
Vickers Aircraft Machine Gun
All the Lafayette Escadrille airmen, including Blaine Rawlings (James Franco), Eugene Skinner (Abdul Salis), Eddie Beagle (David Ellison), Reed Cassidy (Martin Henderson), William Jensen (Philip Winchester), Nunn (Pip Pickering), and Lyle Porter (Michael Jibson) have Vickers Aircraft Machine Guns on their planes.
Maxim MG08
The Germans fire a Maxim MG08 in the scene where Beagle crashes his plane and Rawlings lands to rescue him.
Maxim LMG 08/15 "Spandau"
The Germans use air-cooled Maxim LMG 08/15 machine guns on their Fokker DR-1 triplanes. Beagle tells the other airmen that they are "9 mm Spandaus", which is incorrect as they are actually the standard German 7.92x57 mm Mauser ammunition.
Rifles
Lebel 1886
French soldiers are seen carrying Lebel 1886 rifles and firing them during the battle scenes.
Mauser Gewehr 1898
The primary weapon used by the German infantrymen is the Mauser Gewehr 1898. Some are seen with scope attachments.
Handguns
Mle 1892 Revolver
The Lafayette Escadrille pilots are given Mle 1892 Revolvers as last-ditch suicide weapons by Cassidy (Martin Henderson). Blaine Rawlings (James Franco) notably uses it during his dogfight with the "Black Falcon". This revolver also is seen in the hands of James Franco in the subsequent film This Is the End.
