Something I've never understood about this movie - this film clearly did not have Department of Defense support (since the military are essentially the bad guys in this film). Yet all of the soldiers who occupy New York City are said to be 101st Airborne, and are portrayed as such (the soldier in the picture above is clearly wearing a "Screaming Eagles" patch on his Battle Dress Uniform). If this film had received DoD support and used actual 101st soldiers during filming, one would expect the use of the 101st insignia to be authorized, but since that's not the case here, isn't the portrayal illegal under Title 10 (Code 772) - specifically, part (f)?
[[ | Alas, I've seen other examples of anti-military movies which depict actual active-duty military units using their actual insignia, so perhaps this law isn't being enforced. (Another example that comes to mind is King Kong Lives, where the soldiers are clearly supposed to be 82nd Airborne - they wear the maroon berets and "AA" patches on their BDUs). -MT2008 (talk) 09:36, 20 May 2018 (EDT)
: Eh, I concur it seems kinda loosey-goosey how they enforce all that at best. There's been plenty of other films with military/government personnel using actual insignia that weren't officially supported for whatever reason - mostly because they were shown as some kind of villain or antagonist, but not always. That said, there's other insignias shown in the movie as well, not just the 101st. StanTheMan (talk) 11:59, 20 May 2018 (EDT) |

101st Airborne soldiers
Something I've never understood about this movie - this film clearly did not have Department of Defense support (since the military are essentially the bad guys in this film). Yet all of the soldiers who occupy New York City are said to be 101st Airborne, and are portrayed as such (the soldier in the picture above is clearly wearing a "Screaming Eagles" patch on his Battle Dress Uniform).
