Carl ([[David Wenham]]) gives Van Helsing ([[Hugh Jackman]]) a custom built Crossbow which automatically fires bolts from a rotating drum. The bow is said to be gas operated, but since it isn't a gun, the tank fitted in the stock is assumed to be the "gas", like a C02 tank. Van Helsing is seen using the Crossbow to take on Dracula's ([[Richard Roxburgh]]) brides Aleera ([[Elena Anaya]]), Marishka ([[Josie Maran]]), and Verona ([[Silvia Colloca]]) when they try to attack Anna Valerious ([[Kate Beckinsale]]) during the day, using the clouds for cover. After dunking the bow in holy water at the church, he uses the bow to successfully take out Marishka.

Van Helsing is a 2004 American action/fantasy film written and directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy and G.I. Joe franchises). Similar to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Van Helsing draws on a number of characters from 19th-century horror and science-fiction novels, including Bram Stoker's Abraham Van Helsing (changed to Gabriel in the film) and Count Dracula, Mary Shelley's Dr. Frankenstein and his Monster, and Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Hugh Jackman stars as Van Helsing, a monster hunter for an ecumenical religious order, sent to Transylvania to help the order's Gypsy allies defeat Dracula.

The following firearms were used in the film Van Helsing:

Gas-Operated Automatic Crossbow

Carl (David Wenham) gives Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) a custom built Crossbow which automatically fires bolts from a rotating drum. The weapon is said to be gas operated, but since it isn't a gun, the tank fitted in the stock is assumed to be the "gas", like a CO2 tank. Van Helsing is seen using the Crossbow to fight Dracula's (Richard Roxburgh) brides Aleera (Elena Anaya), Marishka (Josie Maran), and Verona (Silvia Colloca) when they try to attack Anna Valerious (Kate Beckinsale) during the day, using the clouds for cover. After dunking the weapon in holy water at the church, he uses it to successfully take out Marishka.

Van Helsing fires a single bolt which pierces Verona's leg as she carries Anna. Even a gas-powered crossbow would have drop at such a range yet no compensation for drop is shown.
