I remember when the movie came out there was an ad in the paper, it showed the MAC 10, and listed it's specifications.  The tag line was:  "This weapon isn't registered.  Neither is McQ".  David.

Looks like an M1911 variant of some kind with a really bad fake suppressor. --Charon68 00:39, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I specualted about that. Later one another detective tell McQ that a 9mm was used to kill the two uniformed officers. I figured perhaps a Star or Llama. Since they made 1911 clones in 9mm and as far as I know only the Colt Commander was chambered in 9mm, but the pistol used in the movie looks like it has a five inch barrel instead of the 4.2 inch barrel of the Commander. Let somebody else go identify it. Maybe one of the Mods can call one of their contacts in the movie business and identify the actual pistol used. Mods how about it??--Jcordell 00:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
While I can't correct the ID, I'm almost certain it's not an Auto 5. You can actually see the pump in the second shot. --Funkychinaman (talk) 04:37, 25 January 2014 (EST)

I'm just organizing some pages. I'm not changing the text or screencaps, but I'm anal and I am grouping the firearms by type. --Jcordell 21:42, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Latest revision as of 04:59, 7 March 2019

As far as I know, and if I remember the movie correctly, in the movie McQ is suspended and his weapon is taken and he then "borrows" (not buys) the MAC-10 from a gunshop owner despite being told "it's not licensed" to which he replies "neither am I". --Charon68 02:05, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

You are correct. McQ borrows the MAC10 immediately after buying the High Power. The gun store scene was shot at Warshall's sporting goods, which unfortunately closed 6-8 years ago.

I went ahead and added screenshots. Hope you don't mind. --Jcordell 01:59, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Because it's John Wayne and he shoots a gun in nearly every movie he's ever been in, so you can't say it's because he lacks experience. (And I'm not going to dignify the sissy remark. It's JOHN WAYNE!) --funkychinaman 14:47, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

It really is a pump-action shotgun. It seems Remington 870. --Slon95 (talk) 14:40, 12 November 2015 (UTC+2)
