Twelve Monkeys is a 1995 science fiction thriller directed by Terry Gilliam and starring Bruce Willis as James Cole, a convict living in a post-apocalyptic Earth devastated by a global pandemic. Cole is then selected to participate in a mission that involves traveling back in time to stop the virus from being released. The film's cast included Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt. The film was inspired by the 1962 French language short film La Jetée, and would later be adapted in 2015 as a SyFy television series.
