'''Brother 2 (Brat 2)''' is a 2000 cult Russian film directed by Aleksey Balabanov. It is the sequel to the groundbreaking 1997 post-Soviet crime film [[Brother (Brat)]]. The story takes place about a year after the events that occurred in the first film. Having arrived in Moscow, Danila meets up with comrades from his army days and together they participate in the shooting of a telecast devoted to heroes of the First Chechen War. Afterward, Danila's friend Konstantin tells him about a problem which has befallen his twin-brother, Dmitri,  a hockey player for the American NHL. Konstantin reveals that a dishonest American businessman named Manis has ensnared Dmitri within an exploitative contract deal, which gives Manis all of the money that Dmitri earns from playing hockey. Konstantin says that he will ask his boss, Belkin, who is the head of the bank, to talk with the American. After a meeting with Belkin, Konstantin gets killed by Belkin's excessively zealous assistants, which is due to their misinterpretation of his instructions (he told them to simply "sort out the problem" with Konstantin.) In the meantime, Viktor, Danila's elder brother, comes to Moscow. Danila decides to avenge the death of his friend, Konstantin, so he asks Viktor to help him. Carrying out the last will of Konstantin, they travel to America to punish Manis the American, return the stolen money to Konstantin's brother, (who is more scared now than anything) and to restore a 'truth' which Danila believes in, and nobody else seems to understand.

''Danila'''s new girlfriend in Chicago, a street hooker named ''Dasha'', arranges a meeting for him with an illegal gun dealer. Since Danila knows that he has no money to pay for the guns, he decides to rob the gun dealer instead. Danila prepares for his meeting with the [[Zip Gun|handmade pistol]] dealer by building a muzzle-loading, hand-made pistol, which he improvises from materials that he finds on a construction site. In the former Soviet Union and post-Soviet Russia, such firearms earned the slang nickname "podzhig" or "podzhiga" (ignition), and they were widely used by various petty criminals from the 1970s until the 2000s, and even later.

Materials are simple enough: a short piece of wood, a scrap of a water pipe and a wire. Having squared a wood under the handle and as having made deepening under the future trunk, Daniel cuts off a pipe till the necessary sizes, does in it an aperture and attaches a wire to the handle. Further he is engaged in manufacturing of the shell consisting of match sulphur and manganese bought in a drugstore and a charge which consists of an iron crumb and nails. Brother 2 (Brat 2) is a 2000 cult Russian film directed by Aleksey Balabanov. It is the sequel to the groundbreaking 1997 post-Soviet crime film Brother (Brat).
