Lorne Greene (1915-1987) was a Canadian actor best known for his roles of Ben Cartwright on ''[[Bonanza]]'' and as Commander Adama in both the original ''[[Battlestar Galactica]]'' and its short-lived spin-off, ''[[Galactica 1980]]''. In addition to his work as an actor, his work in radio lent him to be dubbed the "Voice of Doom" for his various war-time news reports during World War II, and was credited for the invention of the "backwards clock," a reverse stop-watch that would allow radio performers to know how much time they had remaining before transitioning to another program. | |||

Lorne Greene (1915-1987) was a Canadian actor best known for his roles of Ben Cartwright on Bonanza and as Commander Adama in both the original Battlestar Galactica and its short-lived spin-off, Galactica 1980. In addition to his work as an actor, his work in radio lent him to be dubbed the "Voice of Doom" for his various war-time news reports during World War II, and was credited for the invention of the "backwards clock," a reverse stop-watch that would allow radio performers to know how much time they had remaining before transitioning to another program.
