Alan Wake is a 2010 third-person shooter, developed by Remedy Entertainment, the creators of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.
Described as a psychological thriller with a cinematic action presentation, players control bestselling crime fiction writer Alan Wake, who has been suffering a two-year long stretch of writer's block. Alan and his wife Alice depart New York City for a vacation in the small town of Bright Falls, Washington. Shortly upon arriving, Alice mysteriously vanishes, with Alan embarking on a quest to find out what happened to her. Along the way, he is stalked by darkness-possessed beings known as "Taken", who are vulnerable to light and finds that he is targeted by a sinister otherworldly force known as the Dark Presence.
A spin-off, Alan Wake's American Nightmare was released in 2012 while a proper sequel, Alan Wake 2, was released in 2023.
The following weapons appear in the video game Alan Wake:
Usable Weapons
Colt Python
The Colt Python with 4" barrel is the first weapon in the game, called simply "Revolver". Holds six shots, with a maximum of 36 in reserve. Bright Falls Sheriff Sarah Breaker and FBI agent Robert Nightingale also carry Python revolvers (even though the Python is not a standard issue FBI handgun in real life).
Orion Flare Gun
The Orion Flare Gun is the BFG of the game. The explosion of a flare can kill multiple Taken at a wide range. Usually found only in hidden chests. The ammo limit is twelve flares.
Over/Under Shotgun
An Over-Under Shotgun appears in the game simply as "Shotgun". It is much more powerful than the Python, but its range is limited and ammo for it is rarer. As expected, holds two shells at once with 24 in reserve.
Winchester Model 1300 Defender
The Winchester Model 1300 Defender is first seen in Chapter 3: Ransom. Called "Pump-action Shotgun" in the game. Holds a maximum of 8 shells, while the real 1300 Defender has a 7-shell capacity at max; like the Over-Under Shotgun, its reserve is 24 shells. Sheriff Sarah Breaker also uses a Winchester Model 1300 Defender during Chapter 5: The Clicker.
Remington Model 7 CDL
The Remington Model 7 CDL is known as "Hunting Rifle" in the game. Judging by the 5-round capacity, it is chambered in .17 Remington Fireball. This is the most powerful weapon in the game next to the Orion flare gun. Ammo is scarce, and the weapon itself only appears in a handful of sections.
Model 7290 Flashbang Grenade
Model 7290 flashbang grenades are first found in Chapter 3 "Ransom", when the police chase Alan into the woods. Has a similar effect as the Orion flare gun; the blast instantly kills weaker Taken and heavily damages larger ones. If a thrown flashbang hits a Taken, it will explode on impact. It is worth noting that the nomenclature on the in-game flashbangs reads "M7920" instead of the correct "7290", probably to avoid licensing issues. Also, they have a blue body, like the Model 7290T (training version of the Model 7290).
Unusable Weapons
Beretta 92FS
A Beretta 92FS is seen on the cover of Wake's novel "The Sudden Stop".
Eight-barreled Minigun
An eight-barreled minigun is seen on a Death Rally poster.
