The Orville is an American science fiction comedy-drama series inspired by sci-fi series such as Star Trek. The series was created by Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane, who stars as Ed Mercer, Captain of the U.S.S. Orville (ECV-197). Adrianne Palicki co-stars as Commander Kelly Grayson, the first officer of The Orville who also happens to be Mercer's ex-wife. Along with the rest of the Orville crew, they explore space and encounter new alien cultures. The series premiered in the US on FOX in 2017 and aired for 2 seasons until 2019. The show was subsequently picked up by the streaming service Hulu and aired its third season in 2022.
