Nice, but where's the trigger? This article or section is incomplete. You can help IMFDB by expanding it. |
Jojo Rabbit is a 2019 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Taika Waititi and was based on the Christine Leunens novel "Caging Skies". Roman Griffin Davis stars in the film as Johannes "Jojo" Betzler, a Hitler Youth member who discovers that his mother Rosie (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. He must then question his beliefs, while dealing with the intervention of his imaginary friend, a fanciful version of Adolf Hitler (portrayed by Waititi). The film's cast includes Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen, and Sam Rockwell. Jojo Rabbit would go on to be nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Johansson, with Waititi receiving the Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
The following weapons were used in the film Jojo Rabbit:
Handguns
Walther P38
Captain Klenzendorf (Sam Rockwell) is seen using a Walther P38 to impress the young boys at the HJ Summer camp. Later his assistant, Finkel (Alfie Allen), uses it in battle.
Luger P08
Fraulein Rahm (Rebel Wilson) carries a Luger P08 throughout the film. She tries to offer the pistol to Jojo, then she is seen holding it in the conference room and during the battle, where she tries to hand it to Yorki, Jojo's friend.
Gasser Revolver
During the battle, a one-handed Volksturm fighter appears to be armed with a late 19th century Austrian Rast Gasser 1898 (or maybe a Belgian rip-off).
Submachine Guns
MP 18/I "System Schmeisser"
During the battle, Captain Klenzendorf (Sam Rockwell) is armed with an ornately decorated MP 18/I, specifically an interwar "System Schmeisser" conversion for German police and paramilitary issue. Earlier in the film, when Klenzendorf is planning his loadout to carry into battle, he refers to his submachine gun as a "Gatling Gun".
MP40
German soldiers are seen armed with the MP40 throughout the battle.
MP3008
During the battle sequences, an extra and a little girl can be seeing holding a MP 3008, a limited production SMG copied from the Sten Gun to arm the Volkssturm with a cheap and effective automatic gun.
PPSh-41
PPSh-41s are in the hands of several Soviet soldiers in the last scenes.
PPS-43
The Soviet soldier that captures Jojo has a PPS-43 with wooden grips, as it should have during wartime.
M1A1 Thompson
Several American soldiers escorting prisoners are seen armed with the M1A1 Thompson.
Rifles and Carbines
Karabiner 98K
Throughout the film the Karabiner 98k, being the main issue rifle of the German Army, is seen in the hands of several characters and extras.
Gewehr 1898
Several Volkssturm units during the battle carry the Mauser Gewehr 1898, a WWI era rifle reused in the last months of the war as a last ditch measure to arm militias.
StG-44
The Sturmgewehr 44 is carried by several German soldiers
Mosin Nagant
The Mosin Nagant can be seen clearly in the hands of several Volkssturm fighters (this is not a historical error, since by the end of WWII, the militias of the Third Reich were armed with anything at hand, included some of the millions of Mosin Nagant rifles captured during Operation Barbarossa) and some Red Army soldiers.
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III
A Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III is seen in the hands of a militia fighter, most likely another captured weapon distributed to the Volkssturm.
M1 Garand
Most US soldiers in the movie carry M1 Garand rifles.
M1 Carbine
Several M1 Carbines are carried by US soldiers
Machine Guns
MG42
German forces use the MG42 throughout the battle. Yorki asks Jojo to help him bring an MG42 along with some ammo to the frontline. Fraulein Rahm (Rebel Wilson) is also seen taking up the MG42 while engaging the opposing forces. In this scene, the weapon likely is an airsoft replica, since it has a strange plastic block in the action. Also, it sounds like the MG42 used by Frau Rahm has a very low rate of fire (likely a choice made in post production).
Browning Automatic Rifle
A soldier carries the M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle while escorting Gestapo prisoners.
Degtyaryov DP-28
While Jojo is being captured, in the background is a Soviet soldier with a DP-28 LMG.
Browning M1919A4
In the aftermath of the battle, US troops drive around town in a Jeep with a Browning M1919A4 machine gun mounted on it.
Browning M2HB
The Browning M2HB machine gun is seen mounted on several US armored vehicles. Later, a US Jeep with a Browning M2HB mounted on it is seen parked on the side of a road for maintenance.
Grenades
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
Jojo and several other Hitler Youth boys can be seen throughout the film using the Model 24 Stielhandgranate.
Other
Panzerschreck
A Panzerschreck is seen carried by Yorki and another child. When Yorki stops to greet Jojo, he drops the Panzerschreck, causing it to fire accidentally. Later, it's in the hands of a woman fighting in the battle.
Panzerfaust
Panzerfaust rocket launchers are seen in the hands of militia throughout the movie. Cheap and easy to use, these were widespread among the Volkssturm.
10.5 cm leichte Feldhaubitze 18/40
An abandoned 10.5 cm leichte FeldHaubitze 18/40 can briefly be seen at the end of the movie.
American Armor
M8 "Greyhound"
In the aftermath of the battle, several M8 "Greyhound" armored cars are seen.
M5 Half track
The M5 "Half-track" carrier is also seen used by US forces, often with the Browning M2HB mounted on top.
M36 "Jackson" Tank Destroyer
The M36 "Jackson" Tank Destroyer, a 90mm Gun Motor Carriage, is also seen used by US forces.
