Any particular reason why you called my contributions bullshit and reverted Predator's Minigun section into the unformatted mess that it originally was?  There was not one thing I added that is not blatantly obvious from simply looking at the weapon.  If you need me to break it down for you, I can:

*The M60 handguard assembly is installed backwards.  On an M60 machine gun it faces the other way.
*The XM214 has tapered barrels when compared to the M134 and only has two discs on its barrel clamp whereas a GE M134 barrel clamp has four discs.
*The ammo box and cover assembly is from an M23 armament system and the pack that Jesse wore was an ALICE frame pack.
*During wide shots Jesse is shown running around and moving without any cables trailing from the rear of the gun and no batteries present.  During the firing shots you can see the cables in some shots.  During non firing shots the chute is "upside" down on his weapon and his ammo box is oriented so that the chute attaches the bottom.  In the firing shots, you can see that it is oriented "correctly."
Let me know if there are any other "bullshit" changes I made that would require me to talk to someone who has seen the weapon, and aren't simply obvious observations from watching the film or studying the weapon.  You could have been a little bit more respectful and asked about whatever it was that you disagreed with so much instead of just declaring it all "bullshit" and erasing it, when I put some effort into that and everything I added was true.
Thanks for your time.

The recoil absorbers came from the following description from this page.
"An overhead shot of the M-134 mini-gun without its mount. The prominent "horns" are the recoil absorbers for the gun mount, while the tube at the rear is the third attachment point for the gun. The curved object at the top of the picture is a link chute for the stripped links and the feeder/delinker is immediately below it. The square patch near the center of the gun's receiver is the Safety Sector with its quick-release pins. The electric drive motor is located directly below the Safety Sector. Note the barrel clamps around the barrel cluster. Without the barrel clamps, the torque of the gun would warp the barrels and you'd have them looking like a banana peel. (Photo: US Army)"
http://www.warboats.org/mst2Bremmer/Stoner_ord_notes/stonerhtml/Mini-gun.htm
Those assemblies are definitely present on the Predator and T2 gun. A retired GMCM's word is good enough for this ENS, at least until a better source presents itself.

I had trouble getting this picture when I posted my above response, but I managed to snag it.  Despite the reputation I may have made for myself when I made my first post, I don't make things up.  There is always a reason for what I say, though, in some cases, it might be wrong, or a bad source. In retrospect, yes, the frame rate of films is too low in order to accurately count barrel rotations on a Minigun.  Bad first impression maybe, but I hope you won't hold that over my head anymore while I post here.

As I recall, STANAG 4179 (the 5.56mm magazine standard) is just a standard set of dimensions, the decision to standardise the 30-round M16 magazine itself was never made. XXX

Hi,

I notice you have changed the XXX page to say that the gun we called a B&T MP-9 is actually a Steyr TMP. What details identify it as a TMP and not an MP-9? I'm not saying you're wrong, just asking because I'd like to clarify further on the page itself. -MT2008 01:28, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

Well the Steyr TMP does have a Factory made detachable stock. The particular weapon in XXX has such a stock on it. Said stock attaches to both the back of the receiver where the hing on the B&T MP-9's folding stock is and the lower rear of the rear pistol grip. http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/galleryfiles/0400/439.htm note that the stock on that TMP has no hinge to it. Still it's the best picture I can find on such stocks on the net.

Gungrave

Um hi,

I know this is a very well organized site, and being a new contributing member I in no way wish to tarnish its incredible database. That said, I started a page, key word "started" a page for an anime titled Gungrave. Seeing as something is better than nothing and anyone can add to the page, may I suggest that in the future, only selective removals be done to the page's content. If you aren't going to contribute, and there are at least images from the show, with guns, hold back your delete key.

Thank you.

AMT automag?

You created a page we had already, so I deleted it. Please reference: http://www.imfdb.org/index.php?title=AMC_.44_Auto_Mag_Pistol

the AMC Automag Pistol is already on the gun page. AMC is correct since the FIRST company to create the gun was the Auto Mag Corp. in 1971. MoviePropMaster2008 07:05, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

All of the companies that built the Automag pistols after 1971 had nothing to do with the original Automag pistol. There were many incarnations of the Automag pistol. Also if the gun stemmed from the original design, then it belongs on that gun's page. It is arguable that the Cetme Ameli is a completely different design than the MG42, but it belongs on the MG42 page even though it fires a different cartridge and is built by a completely different manufacturer. BUT....I understand your reasoning. The later guns look more like mutant longslide 45s than the original Auto mag design. I always (probably a mistake on my part) thought that they were just funky 45 style slides on Automag style frames. This is definiteily something to think about and I will confer with the other admins and see what they think. Thanks for your input! :) It has caused quite a bit of thought regarding this handgun. :) MoviePropMaster2008 18:34, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the gun reasoning

Its' fascinating. The GUN does deserve mention, but I'm still wondering if they created it to exploit the Automag's market. Like the .22 caliber clones of the M16 or AK47. Their design is radically different and they were made just to exploit the popularity of a previous famous firearm. But we list the clones or 'copies' under the primary gun design page. I will need to look into it, but thank you! for bringing up some great gun historical info. I'm still perplexed since the gun seems to fall into a gray zone. I will check with the other admins and get their opinion. Do you have any access to any of the company's literature? Was it in any way designed after the original automag? MPM2008

Quarantine

I would like to set the record straight on whether my images are not bootlegs from a cell phone, the reason they appear so is that the film was not recorded using a camera and tripod. The cameraman-Scott Percival (played by Steve Harris) is as mush appart of the movie as any other character since the film is shot to resemble a news reporter filming it (In fact the cameraman uses his camera to kill an infected). To this end, it is rather hard to get clean screencaps since the cameraman moves as much as the other characters do, sometimes the other characters run in front of the camera just as the action gets good. If someone can get better shots, than please do. I appreciate IMFDB for its professional appearance on each of its pages.

Right now I'm searching for images the film's site to use.

Remington700P

Since the PSS came FIRST, it is the one listed. The correct nomenclature should be the original designation with the notation that 'the model is later designated as the P' Also the Gun in the photo is a PSS (I know, it's mine) and also the PSS marked guns are the ones seen in all of the films so far. Thanks. MPM2008

PSS

Thanks for the update. Sorry I didn't know that someone else was changing all of the nomenclature to the NEW version (which is kinda like renaming ALL of the M1 Carbines to M2 Carbines, not a great example but you get the drift). I recently held a 700P up to my 700-PSS (which I bought in the early 1990s) (wow, that's older than most of our members!!!!) and was comparing that the barrels looked different in contours and thickness. My first comment was "wow, the PSS has a really FAT barrel" ;) MoviePropMaster2008 23:35, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

PSS

Thanks for your help. As far as I know, the P model didn't exist all during the 1990s or at least I never saw one. All the rifles I've seen in movie armorer inventory have been the PSS model. The P model is what Remington offers NOW. But I am not calling myself a Remington Expert. All I know is that my guns and the guns I've Handled from ISS, Cinema Weaponry and Stembridge are all PSS marked models.  :) Thanks MoviePropMaster2008 21:56, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Oh. Well, it's a shame.

I'd spent quite a bit of time getting that image of the Dragon edited to show what they did to the G36K to get to it, and other than the question of what the Falcon 2 is I couldn't really see many issues left with it. What's the policy on this site for fictional weapons loosely based on real ones? I have a stack of screencaps of FEAR 2 and Crysis I could easily upload to fill those articles in better, but I don't want to fill the server up with stuff some admin's going to end up deleting because it isn't how things work here.

Also, I do feel it worth noting that the Perfect Dark article used to be even worse than before I had a crack at it. Dongs 07:59, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Pirates of the Caribean

Don't blank the page, it's better than what is usually done when that page is made (which is blank typically). Flintlocks are weapons too, and I'll probably fill the page with screencaps in the future. - Gunmaster45

Everyone is sick of less-than-half-assed pages being made. I was just impressed because this is the first time the page was made as anything more than a blank page. - Gunmaster45

Articles that will never exist

Rather than removing them entirely, shouldn't we just remove the links to them and leave the titles as plain text? After all, the fact that we don't think something is worth a whole page doesn't mean that a weapon doesn't appear in it, and deliberately making articles incomplete seems an odd way of doing things. While you were right to delete that comment for containing personal attacks, I think he's actually right that any capacity that fits the dimensions of the M16 magwell can be called STANAG-compliant. Highlander 2

Thanks for the Highlander 2 caps. Can you crop the black bars and reupload? And are these caps from the director's cut? --Funkychinaman (talk) 04:44, 6 June 2014 (EDT)
