Later, Ellie ([[Bella Ramsey]]) finds the same gun and puts it in her backpack. At the beginning of "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04), the girl examines and aims her gun at the mirror, then hides it. During the raiders' attack in Kansas City, she shoots Bryan (Juan Magana), saving Joel ([[Pedro Pascal]]), after which he takes the gun away. While hiding from the revolutionaries, he teaches Ellie how to hold the gun correctly, allowing her to keep it. Ellie uses the gun briefly during the escape from Kansas City through the tunnels and during the battle with infected in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05). At the beginning of "Kin" (S1E06), Ellie uses the gun during a meeting with Marlon and Florence (Elaine Miles), and later upon arriving at the University of Eastern Colorado and confronting the raiders. She shoots David's group from the horse, attempting to lead them away from Joel in "When We Are in Need" (S1E08). After being captured by the cannibals, Ellie loses her gun.

As "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) reveals, the gun originally belonged to Doctor Edelstein ([[John Getz]]). Sam gets the gun after he disappears and uses it during a meeting with Joel and Ellie.

The gun is also briefly used in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03) and "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). In "Endure and Survive" (S1E05), Joel uses his revolver during his escape through the tunnels and when encountering a revolutionary sniper. At the end of the episode, Henry Burrell ([[Lamar Johnson]]) draws his gun and fires several times. At the beginning of "Kin" (S1E06), Joel uses the gun during a meeting with Marlon and Florence, and later upon arriving at the University of Eastern Colorado. Joel uses the revolver while searching for Ellie in Silver Lake's meat storage in "When We Are in Need" (S1E08). The revolver is also seen in "Look for the Light" (S1E09), but this time only in the holster.

In 2003, an American soldier (showrunner Craig Mazin in a cameo role) who encounters Joel and Sarah is armed with a [[M4A1]] carbine with a Trijicon TA01 ACOG scope and flashlight in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). 20 years later, FEDRA soldiers, include Lee ([[Max Montesi]]), are also seen with notably worn out [[M4A1]] carbines with LMT rear sights and flashlights the same episode. Toward the end of the episode, Joel Miller ([[Pedro Pascal]]) picks up Lee's rifle after beating him and continues to use the gun in "Infected" (S1E02), notable during the confrontation with the two clickers at the Bostonian Museum and near the Massachusetts State House at the end of the episode. Joel leaves the rifle in one of the smuggler's stashes in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03), claiming it will be difficult to get ammunition for it (even though .223 is one of the most common calibers in the US). Army and FEDRA soldiers are seen with rifles during a mandatory evacuation in Lincoln, Massachusetts in the flashback. Anti-FEDRA revolutionaries, including Lieutenant Perry ([[Jeffrey Pierce]]), are mostly armed with captured M4A1s with Trijicon TA01 ACOG scopes, Aimpoint CompM2 CCOs and/or EOTech holographic sights (some that are fake) with RIS foregrips and KAC rail covers, some now sporting revolutionary colours after they seize control of Kansas City from FEDRA in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). Perry and the other revolutionaries are also armed with M4A1s during the battle with the Infected in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05). Most of the Firefly soldiers (including Pardeep Singh Sooch and [[Andy McDermott]]) are armed with M4A1s in Salt Lake City hospital in "Look for the Light" (S1E09). Joel also uses one of the Firefly's rifles when his previous weapon runs out of ammunition.

Pistols
Beretta Model 70
When the raiders attack Bill's town in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03), Frank (Murray Bartlett) pulls a Beretta Model 70 out of a dresser and helps Bill. Later, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) finds the same gun and puts it in her backpack. At the beginning of "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04), the girl examines and aims her gun at the mirror, then hides it. During the raiders' attack in Kansas City, she shoots Bryan (Juan Magana), saving Joel (Pedro Pascal), after which he takes the gun away.
Beretta 92FS
FEDRA soldiers carry Beretta 92FS pistols as their sidearms in drop leg holsters, notably in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). The Kansas City Revolutionaries, including Lieutenant Perry (Jeffrey Pierce), are mostly armed with Beretta 92FS pistols taken from FEDRA soldiers after taking over the city in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). Their leader Kathleen Coghlan (Melanie Lynskey) also uses the gun during the interrogation of Edelstein (John Getz). A revolutionary executes a FEDRA soldier with a captured Beretta during a flashback at the beginning of "Endure and Survive" (S1E05). At the end of the same episode, Kathleen prepares to shoot Henry with her gun but is attacked by a freed infected. The two Firefly members hold Berettas when they find Anna (Ashley Johnson) at the beginning of "Look for the Light" (S1E09). Later Joel (Pedro Pascal) picks up the gun from a dead Firefly soldier and uses it in a pediatric surgery unit and parking lot shootout.
Colt M1911A1
Robert (Brendan Fletcher) uses what appears to be a Colt M1911A1 during a firefight with the Fireflies in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). Bill (Nick Offerman) uses the gun as a sidearm in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03). When he meets Frank the first time he takes him at gunpoint, but then he helps. Revolutionary Lieutenant Perry (Jeffrey Pierce) carries a second pistol, namely the Colt M1911A1 with the black grips, on a holster on his plate carrier in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04) and "Endure and Survive" (S1E05). James (Troy Baker) uses the Colt in "When We Are in Need" (S1E08), approaching Ellie from behind. In the flashback in "Look for the Light" (S1E09), Marlene (Merle Dandridge) is armed with the Colt when she finds Anna in the abandoned house. One of the Fireflies soldiers (Primo Allon) also carries what appears to be a Colt M1911A1 in a holster in Salt Lake City hospital.
Colt Commander
Kim Tembo (Natasha Mumba) points what appears to be a Colt Commander at Joel after a firefight with the Robert's gang in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01).
Colt Defender
Tess (Anna Torv) is armed with a Colt Defender pistol before going into the tunnel in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). At the end of the episode, she briefly uses the gun during a conflict with Marlene and Kim. Before entering the Bostonian Museum in "Infected" (S1E02), Tess pulls out her gun again and shoots several times during a confrontation with the clickers. Riley (Storm Reid) is armed with the same gun, but with black grips, which she got from the Fireflies in "Left Behind" (S1E07).
In the video game, the Colt Defender, referred to as the "9mm Pistol", is the first weapon Joel acquires.
Colt Government Model
At the end of "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04), Henry Burrell (Lamar Johnson) holds Ellie at gunpoint with what appears to be a Colt Government Model. He continues to use the gun in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) during the encounter with Joel and Ellie.
Glock 17
A few FEDRA soldiers can be seen carrying Glock 17 pistols as their sidearms in their drop leg holsters in “When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). A member of the Fireflies also holds the Glock 17 in the same episode. One of Robert's men is armed with a Glock at the end of the episode. An Indonesian soldier carries what appears to be a Glock 17 pistol in a holster in the flashback at the beginning of "Infected" (S1E02). A disassembled gun lies on one of the workbenches in Bill's bunker in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03). FEDRA Captain Kwong (Terry Chen) carries the gun in a holster in "Left Behind" (S1E07).
Orion Flare Gun
After the fall of FEDRA in Kansas City, one of the rebels shoots a Orion Flare Gun into the sky during a mass celebration in the flashback at the beginning of "Endure and Survive" (S1E05).
SIG-Sauer P226
David (Scott Shepherd) snatches the SIG-Sauer P226 from his holster and shoots several times while chasing Ellie near the end of "When We Are in Need" (S1E08). In "Look for the Light" (S1E09), Marlene (Merle Dandridge) changes her P226R to an older version, using it during a confrontation with Joel in the Salt Lake City hospital parking lot.
SIG-Sauer P226R
A member of the Fireflies holds a SIG-Sauer P226R in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). Marlene (Merle Dandridge, reprising her role from the video game) also takes and uses the P226R.
Unknown Pistol
An unknown pistol is briefly seen in a U.S. soldier's holster in the flashback in "Long Long Time" (S1E03) when FEDRA and the Army conduct a mandatory evacuation in Lincoln, Massachusetts. At least one Firefly soldier (Pardeep Singh Sooch) carries the unknown pistol in a holster in "Look for the Light" (S1E09).
Revolvers
Ruger Security Six
A Native American survivor named Marlon (Graham Greene) pulls a Ruger Security Six revolver from his holster and surrenders on Joel's order at the beginning of "Kin" (S1E06).
Smith & Wesson Model 29
One of the raiders is armed with what appears to be a Smith & Wesson Model 29 revolver during the attack on Bill's town in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03).
Smith & Wesson Model 36
At the end of "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04), Sam Burrell (Keivonn Woodard) holds Joel at gunpoint with a Smith & Wesson Model 36. As "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) reveals, the gun originally belonged to Doctor Edelstein (John Getz). Sam gets the gun after he disappears and uses it during a meeting with Joel and Ellie.
Taurus Model 66
As in the game, Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) uses a Taurus Model 66 with blued finish, 4-inch barrel and rubber grips as his primary weapon in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). In "Infected" (S1E02), Joel's gun is seen holstered most of the time. However, he shoots the clickers in the Bostonian Museum several times after losing his rifle. The gun is also briefly used in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03) and "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). In "Endure and Survive" (S1E05), Joel uses his revolver during his escape through the tunnels and when encountering a revolutionary sniper. At the end of the episode, Henry Burrell (Lamar Johnson) draws his gun and fires several times.
In the video game, Joel uses a shorter barreled version of the Taurus Model 66 as his sidearm, which has since become regarded as his signature sidearm in the fandom.
Rifles/Carbines
AK-47
An AK-47 can be seen next to the dead member of the Fireflies in the State House at the end of "Infected" (S1E02). When the crowd of infected is awakened by the survivors, Tess (Anna Torv) takes a gun to turn over the barrels of fuel. At least one revolutionary in Kansas City is armed with the AK in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04).
Colt Model 715 / Diemaco C7
Two Indonesian soldiers guard the entrance to the lab with Colt Model 715 / Diemaco C7 rifles in the flashback at the beginning of "Infected" (S1E02). While the Indonesian military historically used the M16A1 in the Cold War, they would have been using the Pindad SS1 as their main weapon circa 2003. At least one American soldier is armed with a rifle during a mandatory evacuation in the flashback in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03), likely standing in for the M16A2. The series was filmed in Canada, where these rifles are often used in productions.
M4A1
In 2003, an American soldier (showrunner Craig Mazin in a cameo role) who encounters Joel and Sarah is armed with a M4A1 carbine with a Trijicon TA01 ACOG scope and flashlight in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). 20 years later, FEDRA soldiers, include Lee (Max Montesi), are also seen with notably worn out M4A1 carbines with LMT rear sights and flashlights the same episode. Toward the end of the episode, Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) picks up Lee's rifle after beating him and continues to use the gun in "Infected" (S1E02), notable during the confrontation with the two clickers at the Bostonian Museum and near the Massachusetts State House at the end of the episode. Anti-FEDRA revolutionaries, including Lieutenant Perry (Jeffrey Pierce), are mostly armed with captured M4A1s with Trijicon TA01 ACOG scopes, Aimpoint CompM2 CCOs and/or EOTech holographic sights (some that are fake) with RIS foregrips and KAC rail covers, some now sporting revolutionary colours after they seize control of Kansas City from FEDRA in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). Perry and the other revolutionaries are also armed with M4A1s during the battle with the Infected in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05). Most of the Firefly soldiers (including Pardeep Singh Sooch and Andy McDermott) are armed with M4A1s in Salt Lake City hospital in "Look for the Light" (S1E09). Joel also uses one of the Firefly's rifles when his previous weapon runs out of ammunition.
M16A4
At least two FEDRA soldiers are armed with M16A4 rifles in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). Several Anti-FEDRA revolutionaries are armed with M16s in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). Several revolutionaries hold rifles in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) during a mass celebration and during the battle with infected.
M14
An M14 rifle with a scope is seen in the hands of one of the revolutionaries in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) before he and others go to execute the collaborators.
Ruger Mini-14
A Fireflies fighter opens fire on a squad of FEDRA soldiers with what appears to be a scoped Ruger Mini-14 in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01).
Ruger Mini-14 GB-F
A Firefly soldier (Primo Allon) is armed with a Ruger Mini-14 GB-F in Salt Lake City hospital in "Look for the Light" (S1E09). After dispatching him, Joel Miller (Pedro Pascal) takes the gun and uses it throughout most of the firefight.
Sniper Rifles
Karabiner 98k
A Jackson resident who opens the gate carries a slung Karabiner 98k in "Kin" (S1E06).
Remington 700
During the raider attack in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03), Bill (Nick Offerman) uses the Remington 700 to fend off the incursion. After the fall of FEDRA in Kansas City, one of the rebels is seen with the scoped rifle during a mass celebration in the flashback at the beginning of "Endure and Survive" (S1E05). Most of Jackson residents are armed with Remington rifles in "Kin" (S1E06).
Remington 700 BDL
Tommy Miller (Gabriel Luna) is armed with a Remington 700 BDL during outbreak day in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). Tommy continues to use his rifle even after 20 years in "Kin" (S1E06), even commenting he still has "my 700". He gives it to Joel (Pedro Pascal) before escorting them on their journey. Joel teaches Ellie (Bella Ramsey) how to shoot the rifle and shoots it himself. Upon arriving at the University of Eastern Colorado, Joel pulls out the rifle, but mostly uses his revolver. Ellie takes the rifle to go hunting at the beginning of "When We Are in Need" (S1E08). She also keeps David and James at gunpoint the entire time they meet. Later, Joel gets his rifle back. He continues to carry it behind his back in "Look for the Light" (S1E09) until he gets to the Fireflies.
Remington Model 7400
One of the cannibal group members named Marco (Jason Vaisvila) is armed with a scoped Remington Model 7400 rifle during the fight with Ellie and Joel in "When We Are in Need" (S1E08).
Winchester Model 70
In "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04), Joel (Pedro Pascal) uses what appears to be a Winchester Model 70 with a black synthetic stock from Bill's arsenal as his primary weapon, notably during a shootout with raiders in Kansas City before abandoning it. A revolutionary sniper named Anthony (Ron J. Anderson) opens fire on Joel's group in "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) with what appears to be a Pre-1964 Model 70 with wooden stock. After eliminating the sniper, Joel takes the rifle and uses it during the battle with the infected. He continues to carry the rifle in "Kin" (S1E06), and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) picks up the rifle while standing guard at night. Upon arriving at the Jackson community, Maria (Rutina Wesley) takes the rifle. David (Scott Shepherd), James (Troy Baker), Josiah (Nelson Leis), and another unnamed cannibal group member use different Winchesters in "When We Are in Need" (S1E08).
Unknown Rifle
An unidentified rifle with a scope lies next to the dead Firefly members at the end of "Infected" (S1E02). One of the revolutionaries who attack Ellie and Joel in Kansas City in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04) and "Endure and Survive" (S1E05) is armed with an unknown rifle. Jackson resident who opens the gate carries an unknown rifle on a sling in "Kin" (S1E06). One of the cannibal group members named Timothy (Benjamin Rogers) is armed with an unknown rifle during the fight with Ellie and Joel in "When We Are in Need" (S1E08).
Shotguns
Remington Model 870
A Remington Model 870 lies next to a dead member of the Fireflies in the State House at the end of "Infected" (S1E02). Bill (Nick Offerman) is armed with a shotgun in the first half of "Long, Long Time" (S1E03). After the military evacuates civilians, Bill leaves his bunker and loots shops with the shotgun. When a man falls into one of the hidden holes, Bill picks up his shotgun again and meets his guest. One of the raiders is armed with a sawed-off Remington later in the episode during the attack on Bill's town.
Mossberg 500
A raider named Bryan (Juan Magana) is armed with a Mossberg 500 shotgun with heat shield during the attack on Joel and Ellie in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04). The Jackson dog handler carries what appears to be a Mossberg shotgun on a sling when his squad finds Joel and Ellie in "Kin" (S1E06).
Mossberg 500 Cruiser
One of the raiders is armed with what appears to be a Mossberg 500 Cruiser shotgun with a folding stock during the attack on Bill's town in "Long, Long Time" (S1E03).
Double Barreled Shotgun (Sawed Off)
One of the raiders is armed with a Sawed-Off Double Barrel Shotgun during the attack on Bill's town in "Long Long Time" (S1E03).
Ithaca 37
One of the raiders is armed with what appears to be a Ithaca 37 during the attack on Bill's town in "Long Long Time" (S1E03).
Machine Guns
Browning M2HB
A Browning M2HB is mounted on a FEDRA Humvee in "When You're Lost in the Darkness" (S1E01). Machine guns are also briefly seen on abandoned M1A1 Abrams tanks in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04).
M240B
The M240B machine gun is seen mounted on the captured FEDRA Humvee and used by anti-FEDRA revolutionaries during the search for Bryan's killers in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04).
M240C
What appears to be M240C machine guns are seen mounted on abandoned M1A1 Abrams tanks in "Please Hold to My Hand" (S1E04).
Grenades
M67 Hand Grenade
Preparing a trap for the crowd of infected in "Infected" (S1E02), Tess (Anna Torv) overturns a crate of M67 hand grenades, pouring gasoline on them.
Flashbang
A Firefly patrolman throws a flashbang under Joel and Ellie's feet in "Look for the Light" (S1E09).
Pipe Bombs
Riley (Storm Reid) makes some pipe bombs for the Fireflies in her hideout in "Left Behind" (S1E07).
Others
Bow
A Native American survivor named Marlon (Graham Greene) returns from hunting with a bow and puts it on the table at the beginning of "Kin" (S1E06).
