Ripley's Game is a 2002 Italian-American-British crime thriller directed by Liliana Cavani and based on the 1974 novel by Patricia Highsmith about the adventures of the con artist and murderer Tom Ripley. The movie stars John Malkovich, Dougray Scott and Ray Winstone.
The movie is the second screen adaptation of the original novel after The American Friend (1977) starring Dennis Hopper and Bruno Ganz.
The following weapons were used in the film Ripley's Game:
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson Model 64 or Model 65
One of the four gangsters (Sönke Korries) is armed with a stainless steel (not bright enough for nickel finish) revolver. This is a Smith & Wesson style model with unshrouded extractor rod and heavy barrel with ramp front sight. Possible versions are Smith & Wesson Model 64 or Model 65 with 3" barrel.
Unidentified revolver
During the final scene another gangster is armed with a blued snub nose revolver that is seen too briefly for proper identification.
Pistols
Star Model 30P
Due to a continuity error, in the opening scene the pistol that Tom Ripley (John Malkovich) takes from Terry switches from a Bernardelli P-018 Compact (see below) to a Star Model 30P.
Glock 26
Jonathan Trevanny (Dougray Scott) uses a subcompact Glock, most likely a Glock 26 for the first assassination. The pistol is fitted with an obviously fake sound suppressor that is screwed inside the barrel.
Bernardelli P-018
During the encounter on the villa, Jonathan is armed with a Bernardelli P-018 pistol.
Bernardelli P-018 Compact
In the opening scene Terry (Uwe Mansshardt), the bodyguard of the art forgery dealer, carries a pistol that appears to be a Bernardelli P-018 Compact. When Ripley takes the pistol from Terry, it switches to a Star Model 30 (see above) due to a continuity error.
M1911A1
Gregor (Ronnie Paul), the leader of four gangsters, is armed with a nickel plated M1911A1 pistol fitted with a fake sound suppressor.
Due to a continuity error, Gregor's pistol temporary switches from M1911A1 to a different M1911-style gun when he approaches to Ripley's villa. This pistol is also nickel plated (or stainless steel) but it has adjustable sights.
Beretta Cougar
One more gangster (René Lay) is armed with a Beretta Cougar, also with a fake suppressor.
Star Model SI
During the second assassination, Jonathan Trevanny (Dougray Scott) is armed with a suppressed M1911-style pistol. This gun appears to be a Star Model SI .32ACP pistol based on it's smaller size, grip angle and rounded trigger guard.
Star Model BM
During the encounter on the villa, Jonathan's pistol switches from a Bernardelli P-018 pistol to another, what appears to be a Star Model BM 9mm pistol.
Shotguns
Over and Under Shotgun
When Ripley prepares to repel gangsters' attack on his villa, he is briefly seen with an Over and Under Shotgun in hands. He doesn't use this gun in action.
