The Protector is a 1985 Hong Kong-American action film directed by James Glickenhaus and was only the second attempt by Hong Kong martial arts action star Jackie Chan to break into US film market. In the film, Chan stars as Billy Wong, an NYPD detective determined to take down drug smugglers in the city. The cast included Danny Aiello, Roy Chiao, Bill Wallace, Peter Yang Kwan, Kim Bass, and Moon Lee. Chan was disappointed with the finished film during its US premiere and released his own personal cut with new scenes when the film was released in Hong Kong.

German Luna Target Pistol
An assassin tries to kill Billy Wong with an old target pistol. Though it is a single shot breach load pistol, the killer is seen firing two shots in rapid succession at Billy, which is impossible.
Submachine Guns
Ingram MAC-10
A MAC-10 is used by a hood (Spike Silver) who kills Billy's first police partner in a diner and later is used by ski masked kidnappers during an attack on a fashion show. Near the end of the film, Harold Ko (Roy Chiao) also uses this weapon.
Uzi
Danny Garoni (Danny Aiello) uses the Uzi when he and Billy Wong (Jackie Chan) confront the assassins in their hotel.
