Civilization IV is a 2005 turn-based strategy game developed by Firaxis, and created by Sid Meier. The premise of the game is starting with a band of settlers in the year 4000 BC and creating a civilization to stand the test of time. Once the player enters the Renaissance Era and beyond they have the ability to create units armed with many firearms. While the graphics are low quality (which makes some weapons difficult to identify), many guns are very intricately modeled and are thus easily recognizable.
The following weapons appear in the video game Civilization IV and its expansion packs:
Handguns
Single Action Army
If the player is granted a Great General in the Industrial Age and beyond, the Unit is seen wielding a blocky looking Single Action Army. The look of the General appears to be based off of George S. Patton, so the use of a Colt SAA is fitting.
Unknown Suppressed Pistol
The Industrial Age and later Great Spy's (based off James Bond) icon shows an unknown suppressed handgun.
Walther PPK
The Industrial Age and later Spy's icon shows a suppressed Walther PPK.
Submachine Guns
Sa. Vz.61 Skorpion
The SAM Infantry unit wields Skorpions whenever they attack (or are attacked by) ground-based units.
M1 Thompson
The Paratrooper unit (based off of US WWII Paratroopers) wield M1 Thompsons.
M3 Grease Gun
The flag for the Red Syndicate in the "Final Frontier" scenario shows the silhouette of an M3 Grease Gun.
Rifles/Carbines
Spencer Carbine
The Cavalry unit (based off the US Cavalry), is seen using what appears to be a Spencer Carbine breechloader.
Sporterized Rifle
The Russian Cossack unit wields what appears to be an unidentified sporterized rifles. They are not visible clearly enough for accurate identification, but they clearly have no protruding magazine, and a bolt handle turned down (with a characteristic recess under it), which suggests that this is either based on a sporterized Mauser rifle (such as Karabiner 98k), or on one of the many hunting models.
With some convention, it could be considered, that it must be depicts Berdan Rifle, which was a standard issue rifle for Cossacks during the later 19th century.
M1 Garand
The Infantry unit (based off of WWII-era US Army soldiers) are equipped with very blocky M1 Garand rifles.
Musket (various)
