Miscellaneous

D80 bayonet

The D80 bayonet appears as the "Combat Knife". The D80 bayonet is a Chinese copy of the Smith and Wesson Special Ops M9 bayonet, however, it can be distinguished from it by its more rounded hole in the blade.

As with the original RE2, Claire's classic costume has her knife strapped to her left shoulder. The sheath here, however, is designed for a US Air Force survival knife and would be too small to fit either a knife the size of the M9/D80 bayonet.

Randall Model 1

The unlockable Infinite Knife is based on the Randall Model 1.

Ingram

I believe that the Ingram used by Claire in the GamesCom 2018 Demo is a Model 10, not an 11. I have here two screen shots as evidence.

Ejection Port

First, as can be seen here, the ejection port seems to be both rather large, and with a very narrow distance to the back of the receiver. I believe this to be a good indication as to the model.

Left side

Second - and, to me, most important - is the lack of the twin indented rails of a Model 11 on the left side of the receiver, seen here on this screen shot.

Combined with the size of the weapon, and the sound effect used being "beefier" than that of Claire's .38 caliber Bodyguard, I have good confidence that the Ingram is, indeed, a Model 10 - and in .45ACP, not 9x19mm.

Hi Power Mk. III

JMB means John Moses Browning, how do you not know this? Black Irish Paddy (talk) 06:51, 9 October 2018 (EDT)

Looks like you weren't the only one left scratching their head at this oversight. I actually had to squint and ask myself "are they serious?" --DeltaOne (talk) 02:35, 16 October 2018 (EDT)

Unidentified Pistol

Ada Wong is seen with an unidentified pistol, pointing it at Leon. I believe it is a Mauser HSc. Can someone confirm? (I apologize about the link, it's not letting me post the picture directly.) --Bad Boy (talk) 10:49, 12 October 2018 (EDT)

You can see it more clearly in this cutscene.

I think it's just a standard Makarov.Temp89 (talk)
I think the OP is right in saying its a Mauser HSc, this image pretty much gives a much better look, gameplay of it so far seems to show it hold 9 rounds which to me, makes me think its the .32 ACP version with 8+1. Draco122 (talk) 09:52, 16 December 2018 (EST)

Clear inventory shots

This video has clear inventory shots of many of the weapons and their modified status.Temp89 (talk)

Demo datamined

We're a few weeks out from the game's release, but inventory icons of all the weapons were found in the demo's files.

The game uses non-real names like Matilda for the VP70, and some of them are franken-guns to allow "parts" to turn them into newer more powerful guns, but in the file strings are a list of real gun names:

H&K USP

H&K VP70

Browning HP

"HP (Ada)" (her Mauser)

Colt S.A.A.

S&W M60 LadySmith

Remington M1100-P

MAC11

MP5

Desert Eagle .50AE

S&W 329

M79

Sparkshot

Flamethrower

Gatling gun

Rocket launcher

Infinite rocket launcher

"Sexy gun" with some sort of ammo or power gauge

You can also spawn and use the weapon upgrades for the VP70 and Shotgun.Temp89 (talk)

Is it a copyright issue the reason why this series has stopped using real names of guns? They really should of kept the real ammo capacity of the VP70. There was never a balance issue with it in the original game Excalibur01 (talk) 11:27, 16 January 2019 (EST)

We do know for a fact that the deluxe editions will have the Samurai Edge and Wesker's gun Excalibur01 (talk) 14:17, 16 January 2019 (EST)

Desert Eagle

I went ahead and added an entry for the "Lightning Hawk", AKA, the Desert Eagle. The model in-game is a bit hard to figure out (specifically the safety; I don't recognize it at all), so I had to guess a bit on it being a Mark XIX (I ended up looking at the height of the cocking serrations). If anyone thinks it's a different model, feel free to change that. Riverstyx (talk) 02:15, 27 January 2019 (EST)

Wesker's pistol

I might be reaching a bit here, but the blocky frame and beaver tail really remind me of the Tanfoglio CZ75 style pistols. --Slemke1998 (talk) 19:18, 27 January 2019 (EST)

Replacing all the old images

I suggest that all the pre-release images should be replaced, a they're either taken from trailers or early gameplay videos, which tend to be blurry. The profile view image of the in-game Browning and M79 for example is a screenshot from a video, and even includes the watermark of the video uploader. --Wuzh (talk) 12:38, 28 January 2019 (EST)

I agree, I also think the "Unidentified Revolver" entry should be removed from the main page, there's no picture or any information that could help users ID it. Should be moved to here for now IMO --Slemke1998 (talk) 12:53, 28 January 2019 (EST)
Well, if anybody wants to help identify, here's the cutscene with Irons. --Wuzh (talk) 13:18, 28 January 2019 (EST)
Looks like it could be an Alfa 840 to me. Spartan198 (talk) 13:33, 28 January 2019 (EST)
Barrel profile reminds me of a Taurus raging bull or a Manurhin 93, but overall it also reminds me of a S&W PC model, though I can't quite explain why --Slemke1998 (talk) 13:36, 28 January 2019 (EST)
It looks like a Smith and Wesson Model 329. The full under lug, the sights, thumb piece, it could be a reused Smith and Wesson 329 from the other games. I don't know, I'd say Smith on account of reusing other properties. Black Irish Paddy (talk) 14:01, 28 January 2019 (EST)
Think you're right Paddy, now that I've looked up a pic of that gun, it's exactly what I was thinking of when the idea that it's a Smith popped into my head. Matches up with the barrel profile too, the angular front. --Slemke1998 (talk) 14:18, 28 January 2019 (EST)
Shouldn't be too hard. I'm almost done with Leon's guns already and can start playing Claire's side to get pictures of her weapons as well. The M1911 expy is going to take some time, though, since I haven't unlocked Leon B yet. Shiro Okami (talk) 20:42, 28 January 2019 (EST)

1911

It appears that the grip is partly based on a Llama style pistol. Note the hump at the front of the mag well. I would add this myself but I'm not sure which Llama pistol it is as they're all quite similar, plus I'd rather have some confirmation from someone else. Also I am pretty bad at editing so if I tried to to add this, I'd probably just end up screwing up the entry. --Slemke1998 (talk) 16:41, 30 January 2019 (EST)

I already made a note of it on the Resident Evil 7 page, where the model came from. Also if you don't know which specific model it is, just give it a generic description; don't try to force an identification when it's not possible. --Wuzh (talk) 12:42, 4 February 2019 (EST)

And apparently the reason why Leon is holding is like that in this game is because that's how they had him hold it in the original Excalibur01 (talk) 22:28, 5 February 2019 (EST)

Wuzh, I don't see what your issue is. I pointed out a feature and provided a link that clearly shows what I'm talking about. I'm not trying to "force an identification when it's not possible". I did give a "generic description", it's a Llama 1911 style pistol. --Slemke1998 (talk) 19:00, 6 February 2019 (EST)

OK. Nothing wrong then. --Wuzh (talk) 19:27, 6 February 2019 (EST)

Not only the hump, the inclined notches on the slide are taken from there. --Slon95 (talk) 09:21, 8 February 2019 (EST)

Can someone who knows more than me add to the description which bits come from which gun? Atm it's just info pertaining to gameplay and some seemingly random pics of 3 different guns below. --Slemke1998 (talk) 08:53, 4 March 2019 (EST)

Using the in-game names

So I noticed the in-games names for the weapons seem to be used in the captions on a lot of game pages recently. Do you guys want to keep it like that or should I change them to their real life names like I usually do? Mr. Wolf (talk) 04:49, 22 February 2019 (EST)

I would say keep things as is. Different editors have different writing styles. I personally use a mix of in-game names and real life names, and both styles have their benefits. --Wuzh (talk) 04:57, 22 February 2019 (EST)
I mean that works for semi-fictional or hybrid guns, I'm not much for that when it is straight up a real gun. I dunno. Mr. Wolf (talk) 22:37, 24 February 2019 (EST)

Sparkshot

I thought fictional weapons were a no-no on here, or is it just included to complete the page as every other gun is real? --Slemke1998 (talk) 21:21, 27 February 2019 (EST)

I originally added the section because the original RE2 page had the flamethrower and sparkshot sections. So I guess they're more or less included just to complete the page. --Wuzh (talk) 23:22, 27 February 2019 (EST)

Vektor SP1? Black Irish Paddy (talk) 05:59, 8 January 2020 (EST)
No, I don't think so. The front of the trigger guard is near vertical, whereas the SP1's angles forward. Plus, the slide isn't quite as beefy as the SP1 and the SP1 lacks that rounded cutout at the top of the grip in the rear.
