I really don't know why I bothered changing the picture, just bugged me as was an MG15. Why is it that there is not a single entry for this gun? I fund it hard to believe that one has never appeared on film, as it was the standard fixed machine gun of pretty much every German plane that used fixed MGs (to name a few, BF 109, Fw 190, JU 87, HE 111 to name but a few of the many aircraft that mounted it). If there has genuinely never been a movie with a surviving WW2 aircraft that had an MG17 mounted then surely it should at least be listed for some WW2 era flight sims? --commando552 17:11, 16 September 2011 (CDT)

Pretty sure you're not supposed to make pages for weapons that havn't been used in films/video games, but good for you if you find any. You might want ot adda a little history of the gun to the page.--MAndolin 17:20, 16 September 2011 (CDT)

I didn't make the page, just found it and not only was it empty, it had a picture of an MG15 rather than an MG17, so just changed the picture, which happens to be the entirety of the article at the moment. It may be the case that it has never appeared on film, as the only film I can think of which has a genuine WW2 German plane was the JU 87 in Battle of Britain, and that was the one from the RAF museum which is a G-2 variant without internal guns (used 37mm underwing gun pods) but there should be some video games with it in. I would add them, but have no knowledge of flight sims at all. --commando552 17:44, 16 September 2011 (CDT)
Page has been reformatted and several instances of use added.--PistolJunkie 17:57, 16 September 2011 (CDT)
I hate to sound negative but you can't see the weapons at all, which is kind of a nessesity when identifing them. The only exeption is the anime example.--MAndolin 17:36, 16 September 2011 (CDT)
Not necessarily. Weapons mounted in vehicles with very specific armament loadout are often counted as being present if gunfire from the weapon can be seen, even if actual weapon is hidden from view. We may not be able to see it, but we can see that it is present and we can identify exactly what it is based on the vehicle.--PistolJunkie 18:08, 16 September 2011 (CDT)

Why is the picture with the pistol grip back? I'm fairly sure that is an MG15, as the MG17 was for fixed mountings hence no fire controls or furniture. I know that some were adapted for infantry use which I can't find a pic of, but this gun is magazine fed and not belt fed like the MG17. --commando552 03:13, 17 September 2011 (CDT)
