'''''Operation Red Sea''''' (Chinese: 红海行动; pinyin: ''Hóng Hǎi Xíng Dòng'') is a 2018 Chinese/Hong Kong action war film directed by Dante Lam, and is the thematic sequel to ''[[Operation Mekong]]'' (2016). The film is loosely based on the March 2015 evacuation of Chinese nationals from the port of Aden during the Yemeni Civil War. The film is set in the fictional Middle Eastern country of Yewaire, where the People's Liberation Army Navy special forces unit Jiaolong assault team is tasked to evacuate Chinese nationals from this country following the outbreak of a civil war in the country. The movie is filmed in Morocco. The Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie provided several M60A3 main battle tanks, T-72 main battle tanks, SA-330 helicopters, UH-1 helicopters, C-130 cargo planes and numerous soldiers. | |||
