Holes is a 2003 comedy-drama directed by Andrew Davis, based on the young adult novel of the same name by Louis Sachar. Teenager Stanley Yelnats IV (Shia LaBeouf), after being wrongly convicted of theft, is sentenced to a stay at "Camp Greenlake", a juvenile prison camp in Texas. While learning more about the history of the camp, he discovers a connection between the Wild West outlaw "Kissin' Kate" Barlow (Patricia Arquette) and the legendary curse that supposedly hangs over his family. Holes was one of Shia LaBeouf's first feature film appearances, as previously he had appeared in numerous made-for-television movies, and was best known at this time for his recurring role on Disney's TV series Even Stevens.
N.B. Holes was the final film appearance of Scott Plank, who died in a car accident six months before the film's release. The film is dedicated to his memory.
The following weapons were used in the film Holes:
Handguns
Smith & Wesson Model 66
Mr. Sir (Jon Voight) is seen with a Smith & Wesson Model 66 revolver, which he draws and fires in several scenes.
Glock 17
Two Texas Rangers are seen carrying Glock 17s as their sidearms.
Colt Single Action Army
When the story flashbacks to Kate Barlow's (Patricia Arquette) life, many people are seen using several variants of Colt Single Action Army revolvers. Kissin' Kate herself packs a nickel plated "Quick Draw" model with engraving as well.
Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless
Kate Barlow is seen using a Smith & Wesson Safety Hammerless revolver, also nicknamed the "Lemon Squeezer" because of the grip safety.
Rifles / Carbines
Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine
Trout Walker (Scott Plank) is seen using a Winchester Model 1892 saddle ring carbine rifle, which he uses to hold up Kate Barlow. He fires it at a yellow spotted lizard with terrible accuracy (it seems like he turned what would be a recoil imitation into a nervous twitch), but misses it.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 12
The bus guard is seen armed with a Winchester Model 12 shotgun, and later Dr. Pendanski (Tim Blake Nelson) is seen using a Model 12 (likely the same one) to break up the fight between Zero and ZigZag.
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
A 12 Gauge Double Barrel Coach Gun is briefly seen laying next to Yelnats the 1st carriage after being looted by Kate Barlow.
