The Promise is a 2011 British miniseries starring Claire Foy as Erin, a teenage British girl who accompanies her best friend Eliza to Israel when she is called up for national service. Along the way, she reads the diary of her grandfather Len Matthews (Christian Cooke), a paratrooper and World War II veteran who was sent to post-war Palestine as part of the British mandate. Len and his mates are caught between the Jews and the Arabs, and Eliza explores life in the Palestinian territories, with her path ultimately leading to a promise her grandfather made to an Arab family decades ago.
The following weapons can be seen in the miniseries The Promise:
An Irgun fighter disguised as a waiter pulls a Beretta M1934 on several British soldiers.
Browning Hi-Power
Numerous Irgun fighters are armed with the Browning Hi-Power. Several of these have black grips.
Colt M1911A1
Irgun assassins use a Colt M1911A1 to shoot several British soldiers. Sergeant Len Matthews (Christian Cooke) starts carrying an M1911A1 after he is disarmed of his service revolver.
Irgun fighters fire FN Model 1910 pistols with wood grips during a shootout with British troops.
Webley Mk IV
Sergeant Len Matthews (Christian Cooke) carries a Webley Mk IV as his service revolver until he is disarmed of it by an Irgun assassin. It appears to be a pocket model with a 3" barrel.
Submachine Guns
Sten Mk II
Sergeant Len Matthews (Christian Cooke) and other British paratroopers carry the Sten Mk II. It is also used by Irgun fighters.
M1928 Thompson
Irgun fighters carry the M1928 Thompson with L-shaped sights and stick magazines.
Irgun fighters are armed with the Karabiner 98k. In real life, the Karabiner, many of them Czech mausers, were used heavily by Haganah, Irgun and Palmach fighters.
