Monster's Ball is a 2001 drama directed by Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) and examines the relationships in the highly disfunctional Grotowski family, all prison guards over three generations. The family conflict is fueled by the bigoted and curmudgeonly patriarch, Buck Grotowski (Peter Boyle). The cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Heath Ledger, and Halle Berry, who received an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as Leticia Musgrove in the film.
