The Day of the Triffids (2009) is the third of three filmed versions of John Wyndham’s classic science fiction novel (adaptations were also released in 1962 and in 1981). Like the 1981 adaptation, the 2009 version was released as a BBC television miniseries, but deviates significantly Wyndham’s story. The BBC mini-series was directed by Nick Copus and starred Dougray Scott, Joely Richardson, Eddie Izzard, Brian Cox, Vanessa Redgrave, and Jason Priestley. A solar storm blinds humanity, which falls prey to carnivorous, walking plants.
The following firearms were used in the mini-series The Day of the Triffids (2009):
Heckler & Koch USP Compact
Various characters carry the Heckler & Koch USP Compact pistol.
Beretta Cougar
Glock 19
Various characters carry a Glock 19 pistol
12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun
Various characters use a 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun.
Remington 870 Slug Gun
A blind London pub owner wields the Remington 870 Slug Gun in self-defense.
Mossberg 590 "Compact Cruiser"
Torrence (Eddie Izzard) carries a Mossberg 590 Cruiser “Compact” throughout the film.
Sterling SMG
Susan (Jean Murray) carries a Sterling SMG submachine gun.
Heckler & Koch G36C
Various characters wield a Heckler & Koch G36C assault rifle. The rifle carried by Troy (Troy Glasgow) is fitted with what appears to be a shortened Heckler & Koch AG-C grenade launcher, but is actually a Madbull AGX airsoft replica
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Triffid farm guards and Torrence's goons wield the Heckler & Koch MP5A3 SMG.
Enfield L85 rifle series
British soliders carry the Enfield L85 rifle series.
Taser X26
Torrence is seen with a Taser X26.
CIS 40 GL
Triffid farm security forces carry a CIS 40 GL in the stand alone configuration as does Bill Masen (Dougray Scott).
