I Am Cuba (Russian: Я Куба, Ya Kuba; Spanish: Soy Cuba) is a 1964 Soviet-Cuban B&W film directed by Mikhail Kalatozov. It depicts the events of 1959 Cuban revolution through personal stories of four characters: young woman Maria who becomes a prostitute due to the poverty of her family; aged farmer Pedro who loses his house and crops when the landlord sells the land; rebellious student Enrique, killed by police during the demonstration; and farmer Mariano who joins Castro guerrillas after his family became victims of government troops. Enrique (Raul Garcia) uses a Winchester Model 70 rifle with sniper scope when he makes an attempt to assassinate the chief of police.

Some Castro rebels and government soldiers are armed with M1 Garand rifles.

An M1 Carbine is seen in hands of a government officer. Some guerrillas also carry M1 Carbines. This is a late version, with a bayonet lug.
