Malcolm X is the 1992 biographical film directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington as the controversial black civil rights leader. The cast included Angela Bassett, Giancarlo Esposito, Delroy Lindo and Al Freeman Jr. in addition to Spike Lee in a supporting role.

After receiving threats, Malcolm (Denzel Washington) is seen keeping watch over his home while armed with an M2 Carbine.

A few moments later, right before the firebombing of his house, Malcolm takes out a Colt M1911 and draws the slide back. Another one is used by Thomas Hayer (Giancarlo Esposito) to assassinate Malcolm X.
