[[ | Godless is a 2017 Netflix original miniseries Western that was created by Scott Frank, the screenwriter of such films as Get Shorty (1995) and 2017's Logan and the writer/director of A Walk Among the Tombstones and The Lookout. Set in the New Mexico territory in the 1880s, Godless tells the story of a ruthless outlaw who will stop at nothing to find and kill a member of his gang who betrayed and injured him during a heist, which leads him to a town populated almost entirely by women in the wake of a mining disaster. The miniseries stars Jack O'Connell, Michelle Dockery, and Jeff Daniels. This miniseries also is notable for its very accurate depiction and dialogue regarding firearms of the Old West, as well as including many period firearms besides the Colt Single Action Army. All 7 episodes were released on Netflix on November 22, 2017.

== Colt 1860 Army "Avenging Angel" (Richards-Mason conversion) ==
One of the revolvers, used by the outlaw Donnie Devlin (Matthew Dennis Lewis), is a "belly gun" version of Colt 1860 Army, commonly referred as "Avenging Angel" or sometimes "1860 Civilian". Judging by the cylinder, this is a Richards-Mason conversion. The screen gun is probably build upon an Uberti replica of Colt 1860.
| |||

== Colt 1851 Navy (cartridge conversion) ==
Donnie Devlin's (Matthew Dennis Lewis) second revolver is a Colt 1851 Navy with a cartridge conversion that retains the loading lever of the original cap and ball revolver. It looks similar to very rare Thuer Conversion, designed by F. Alexander Thuer in 1868. This conversion uses front-loaded, tapered cartridges that don't require a cylinder with bored-through chambers, thus avoiding troubles with the Rollin White patent. Similar revolvers are seen in hands of several more outlaws and residents of La Belle and Blackdom.

== Colt 1877 Lightning / Thunderer ==
One of Daryl Devlin's (Russell Dennis Lewis) revolvers is a Colt 1877 Lightning or Thunderer.

Short-barreled Remington 1875 revolvers are seen in hands of 10 Year Old Roy Goode (Jack McGrew) in a flashback scene about Roy's childhood, and of Elias Hobbs (Erik LaRay Harvey) during the attack of the gang on the latter's house. These revolvers may be Cimarron 1875 "Outlaw" or Uberti 1875 "Frontier" replicas.

== Unidentified Smith & Wesson ==
Webster (Nathan Darrow), a detective of Pinkerton agency, carries a nickel plated top break Smith & Wesson revolver. Strangely, it combines features of various versions of Model 3, such as the Model 3 style frame, Russian Model or Schofield style extractor shroud and frame latch, and the angular rear part of the frame and the grip are similar to the New Model No. 3. Exactly the same revolver is seen in News of the World and Deadwood: The Movie, which have the same armorer, Joey "Rocketshoes" Dillon.

== Henry 1860 == | |||
Alice Fletcher (Michelle Dockery) carries an iron-framed Henry 1860 throughout the series, wielding it many times at visitors approaching her ranch, and using it to great effect in the final shootout. This rifle is also seen being held by her son Truckee (Samuel Marty) and by Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell). In a flashback scene, 15-year-old Jim Goode (Austin Kane), Roy's elder brother, holds a standard Henry rifle with brass receiver.
It is notable that both Alice and Truckee demonstrate the proper technique when holding the Henry rifle: gripping it by the front of the receiver, not the magazine tube. This is done since the gun has no handguard and magazine tube is open along the bottom, and the spring can pinch the shooter's fingers when firing multiple rounds. Alice also often wears a heavy glove on her left hand to prevent burning her hand on the barrel when firing.

== Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" Carbine ==
Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell) uses a Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" carbine in numerous scenes, including the escape from the gang and the shootout in La Belle. "Yellow Boy" carbines are also seen in hands of Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels), Gatz Brown (Adam David Thompson), Norwegian settler Nicholas Gustavson (Ali Agirnas), Louise Hobbs (Jessica Sulla) and several women of La Belle. As flashback scenes are intentionally filmed in more dull colors, the yellow brass receivers sometimes look too greyish that leads to misidentifying of Model 1866 as Model 1873 (promotional images, made in full color, show the brass receiver of Roy's Winchester).

== Winchester Model 1876 ==
Mary Agnes McNue (Merritt Wever) carries a Winchester Model 1876 throughout the series. Unlike the widely renowned 1873 Model, the Winchester '76 was built with a much larger receiver for accommodating larger, more powerful ammunition. It's chambered in .50-95 Sharps, which Mary Agnes specifically mentions when buying ammunition, prompting the store owner to ask if she's hunting buffalo (A reasonable and accurate question, being that the .50-95 Sharps cartridge was developed as a buffalo round, specifically for single-shot Sharps rifles). She uses it to great effect during the final gun shootout.

Godless is a 2017 Netflix original miniseries Western that was created by Scott Frank, the screenwriter of such films as Get Shorty (1995) and 2017's Logan and the writer/director of A Walk Among the Tombstones and The Lookout.
The following weapons were used in the miniseries Godless (2017):
Revolvers
Single Action Army "Civilian" Model
A number of Griffin's gang members, notably Bud Ledbetter (Rio Alexander) and Floyd Wilson (Justin Welborn), as well as some of the women, defending La Belle, are armed with Single Action Army "Civilian" Model revolvers.
Single Action Army "Artillery" Model
Sheriff's deputy Whitey Winn (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) carries a matched pair of nickel plated Single Action Army "Artillery" Model revolvers with ivory grips, keeping them in two gun belts worn over one another, and drawing and spinning them quite often. Mary Agnes McNue (Merritt Wever) and Sarah Doyle (Audrey Moore) carry blued "Artillery" revolvers.
Single Action Army "Cavalry" Model
Sheriff Bill McNue (Scoot McNairy) carries a Single Action Army "Cavalry" Model revolver. "Cavalry" revolvers are also used by several outlawas, notably Bill Chick (Luke Robertson), and by women of La Belle. Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell) uses a "Cavalry" revolver in the scene in Alice Fletcher's house.
Colt 1871-72 Open Top
Colt 1871-72 Open Top revolvers are main handguns of Roy Goode (Jack O'Connell) and Frank Griffin's righthand man Gatz Brown (Adam David Thompson). Roy's revolver is described as .38 caliber, it has black grips. Gatz Brown's revolver has ivory grips.
Colt 1860 Army (Richards Conversion)
One of the bodyguards of mining tycoon J.B. Sloan carries a Colt 1860 Army with Richards conversion during the attack of Frank's gang on the train. Same looking revolver is seen in hands of one of women of La Belle.
Colt 1860 Army "Avenging Angel" (Richards-Mason conversion)
One of the revolvers, used by the outlaw Donnie Devlin (Matthew Dennis Lewis), is a "belly gun" version of Colt 1860 Army, commonly referred as "Avenging Angel" or sometimes "1860 Civilian". Judging by the cylinder, this is a Richards-Mason conversion. The screen gun is probably build upon an Uberti replica of Colt 1860.
Colt 1877 Lightning / Thunderer
One of Daryl Devlin's (Russell Dennis Lewis) revolvers is a Colt 1877 Lightning or Thunderer.
Colt 1849 Pocket
One of Roy Goode's flashbacks shows 15 Year Old Roy (Griffin Kane) holding a Colt 1849 Pocket revolver.
Remington 1875
Frank Griffin (Jeff Daniels) carries a Remington 1875 revolver. Several of his men, as well as La Belle residents, including deputy Whitey Winn (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), also are seen with Remington 1875 revolvers.
Remington 1875 (short-barreled)
Short-barreled Remington 1875 revolvers are seen in hands of 10 Year Old Roy Goode (Jack McGrew) in a flashback scene about Roy's childhood, and of Elias Hobbs (Erik LaRay Harvey) during the attack of the gang on the latter's house. These revolvers may be Cimarron 1875 "Outlaw" or Uberti 1875 "Frontier" replicas.
Remington 1858 New Army
What appears to be a Remington 1858 New Army revolver is seen in hands of a gang member during the chase after Roy Goode. Similar revolver is seen among the firearms in Sheriff's office.
Unidentified Smith & Wesson
Webster (Nathan Darrow), a detective of Pinkerton agency, carries a nickel plated top break Smith & Wesson revolver. Strangely, it combines features of various versions of Model 3, such as the Model 3 style frame, Russian Model or Schofield style extractor shroud and frame latch, and the angular rear part of the frame and the grip are similar to the New Model No. 3. Exactly the same revolver is seen in News of the World and Deadwood: The Movie, which have the same armorer, Joey "Rocketshoes" Dillon.

Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model
Ed Logan (Kim Coates), the head of the security of the mining company, carries a Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model revolver. Similar revolver is seen in hands of a gang member.
Smith & Wesson Schofield
Marshal John Cook (Sam Waterston) carries a Smith & Wesson Schofield revolver with deep blued finish and ivory grips. This gun is seen only in holster. An ordinary Schofield is used by one of women of La Belle.
Smith & Wesson "Wells Fargo" Schofield
Daryl Devlin's (Russell Dennis Lewis) second revolver is a nickel plated Smith & Wesson "Wells Fargo" Schofield. A nickel plated Schofield "Wells Fargo" is also used by Callie Dunne (Tess Frazer) during the shootout with the gang (when the women get weapons, Callie is armed with a Single Action Army revolver). Another woman of La Belle holds a blued Schofield "Wells Fargo" revolver.
Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3
Gang member Dyer Howe (Keith Jardine) carries a Smith & Wesson New Model No.3 revolver. It is seen only in holster.
Merwin & Hulbert First/Second Model
A bright nickel plated Merwin & Hulbert First or Second Model revolver with "skullcrusher" butt is used by Charlotte Temple (Samantha Soule).
Bulldog
An aged woman holds a Bulldog revolver during the shootout. This revolver may be an original Webley production or an American copy, for example a Forehand & Wadsworth British Bulldog.
Rifles
Henry 1860
Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" Carbine
Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" Rifle
Winchester Model 1866 "Yellow Boy" rifles are used by a number of women of La Belle. Due to continuity errors, Model 1866 rifles and carbines sometimes switch to each other.
Winchester Model 1873 Carbine
Winchester Model 1873 carbines are used by deputy Whitey Winn (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Anna McNue (Whitney Able), Martha Bishop (Christiane Seidel), Julie Ann (Barbie Robertson), Callie Dunne (Tess Frazer) and some other women of La Belle. Due to continuity errors, Model 1873 rifles and carbines sometimes switch to each other.
Winchester Model 1873 Rifle
Winchester Model 1873 rifles are used by Sheriff Bill McNue (Scoot McNairy), Ed Logan (Kim Coates), and a number of La Belle and Blackdom residents.
Winchester Model 1876
Sharps Carbine
Aged Paiute woman Iyovi (Tantoo Cardinal) uses a Sharps Carbine while hunting. The exact model of the carbine is unclear, it could possibly be an M1863, M1869, or M1874.
Spencer 1860
A Spencer 1860 is briefly seen among La Belle's arsenal.
Springfield 1873 Trapdoor Carbine
Springfield 1873 Trapdoor Carbines are used by the women of La Belle.
Springfield 1861 or 1863 Rifled Musket
Two percussion cap muskets, most likely Springfield 1861 or 1863, are seen among La Belle's guns.
Sawed-off Percussion Cap Musket
A Cheyenne warrior holds a sawed-off percussion cap musket in a flashback scene. The base gun cannot be identified.
Shotguns
Coach Gun
Coach Guns are used by Donnie Devlin (Matthew Dennis Lewis) and Gatz Brown (Adam David Thompson).
Double Barreled Shotgun
Full-size Double Barreled Shotguns are used by Mary Agnes (Merritt Wever), Elias Hobbs (Erik LaRay Harvey), and Hiram (Russel G. Jones).
