Frequency is a 2000 science fiction thriller starring Jim Caviezel as John Sullivan, an NYPD detective still grieving over the loss of his father Frank (Dennis Quaid), who died fighting a fire thirty years ago in 1969. When he finds a ham radio that once belonged to his father, John finds through a strange occurence that he communicate with his still living dad in the past. The film would also spawn a CW television series adaptation in 2016.

Smith and Wesson Model 36
Jack Shepard (Shawn Doyle) in 1969 uses a Smith and Wesson Model 36 snub nose revolver in .38 special caliber holding five shots which is accurately depicted. Also Satch DeLeon (Andre Braugher) and the man he is with have .38s drawn in 1969 at the docks after Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) "drowns" Shepard. You can see them holster the .38s into cross draw hip holsters.
