Hellsing Arms .454 Casull
Hellsing Arms .454 Casull
Alucard's signature weapon is the Hellsing Arms .454 Casull (unofficially known as the "Joshua"). This weapon is the first custom handgun made by Hellsing, and was specifically designed by Walter. It's essentially a very big semiautomatic pistol, with a length of 39cm. It's chambered for the mighty .454 Casull round, which finds use primarily in hunting large game, such as deer and bears. Of course, these bullets are special, being made out of silver obtained from melted holy relics, with an exploding property as well, making for a rather devastating cartridge against the legions of the night. The Casull is believed to be based upon the Colt 1911 (or its variants like the longslide), however it also bears a resemblance to early model Colt pistols. In some close ups, one may note that the hammer is never fully cocked, indicative of either a double action or fast-action mechanism similar to the Daewoo DP51. The lengthy barrel and slide gives this gun incredible accuracy, and the weight at the front of the gun makes the massive round significantly more controllable. Something this extreme suits Alucard perfectly.

The Casull is believed to be based upon the Colt 1911 (or its variants like the longslide), however, it also bears a resemblance to early model Colt pistols, in any case, it appears to be a Browning Cam Lock system weapon. The lengthy barrel and slide gives this gun incredible accuracy, and the weight at the front of the gun makes the massive round significantly more controllable. In true anime fashion, despite the Casull only holding around 6-7 rounds in its magazine; Alucard never actually reloads the gun until he desires to. For example, during his fight against the ghouls in Cheddar village, he fires 18 rounds without reloading and even fires multiple shots with just one trigger pull. Another is during the fight against Luke Valentine where he fires an excess of 44 rounds without any implications that he is reloading. This has led to Kouto Hirano, the author, to joke that Alucard's weapons are actually "Schrodinger's guns", where the gun is fully loaded so long as the shooter thinks it is.
In true anime fashion, despite the Casull only holding around 6-7 rounds in its magazine (as noted by the number of window holes in the magazines); Alucard never actually reloads the gun until he desires to. For example, during his fight against the ghouls in Cheddar village, he fires 18 rounds without reloading and even fires multiple shots with just one trigger pull (which would legally make this pistol a machine gun). During the fight against Luke Valentine, he fires an excess of 44 rounds without any implications that he is reloading. This has led to Kohta Hirano, the author of the manga, to joke that Alucard's weapons are actually "Schrodinger's guns", where the gun is fully loaded so long as the shooter thinks it is.

Trivia: During the flashbacks to World War II (specifically 1945) seen in much of the OVA's promotional material, Alucard is seen using this same weapon. This is anachronistic, as the .454 Casull round was developed in  1957.

Jackal
Jackal
Alucard's second handgun is the Jackal, which was also made especially for him. The Jackal was made by Walter after Alucard's first encounter with Anderson - in fact, it likely was specifically designed with him in mind, considering the phrase "'Jesus Christ is in Heaven Now'", a variation on a similar statement on Anderson's equipment, is engraved on the side. The Jackal has an overall length of 39cm (the same length as the Casull), is made from pure silver, and weighs 16kg. The slide covers the entire top frame, and there are thus no creases or lines on the top part of the gun, making room for the engraving. Obviously, no human could possibly use this gun without being blown away by it. The breech also faces the left, instead of the right, so it's more of a sister gun to the .454, though it's magazines can hold about the same amount of bullets that the Casull is capable of. The bullets are different as well, being a bigger 13mm, with blessed Macedonian silver casing, a reinforced core for armor penetration, a mercury explosive and each bullet being baptized. Compared to the Casull, the Jackal is distinctly lacking in terms of aesthetic features, and is devoid of any contours on the side or frame save for the grip. This suggests that Walter designed the weapon immediately after Alucard's encounter with Anderson and did not have time to improve its appearance. Much like the Casull pistol, the Jackal, despite only having a 6-round magazine, never needs to reload unless Alucard desires to.

This gun is of fantastic proportions. No 13mm round for a pistol was ever produced due to its size. A .50 alone would equal 12.7mm, meaning each bullet must be manufactured by Hellsing alone. It's curious as to how this weapon can weigh 16kg when a full size 7.62X51mm machine gun only weighs 11kg, the weight is probably necessary to control the 13mm rounds, though with a gun this heavy you could probably fire a .50cal BMG round and still have the same desired effect.

Integra also uses a P226 with a nickel finish as her sidearm as choice, stating that it is loaded with silver Heavy Explosive rounds. She later gives her handgun to Sir Penwood, a British navy commander and family friend, after his decision to hold his post in a hopeless effort to restore communications throughout the war, rather than evacuating. She however, uses it during the final episode, which implies that Integra has a spare P226.

Webley Mk VI
Glock 17
A Webley Mk VI revolver is used by round table council president Sir Hugh Irons in the OVA. He later gives his Webley pistol to Integra Hellsing after commanding her to execute her now undead soldiers as punishment for her ill-preparedness that led to the total massacre of her forces.
Pip uses a full-sized Glock pistol, most likely a Glock 17, with a suppressor in Episode 3 to assassinate the corrupt police officials working with Millennium. A pair of murderers in Seras's memories also utilize a pair of Glock pistols.

Sir Integra later uses a Webley pistol in the final episode, presumably the same one given to her by Sir Irons, after her P226 handgun ran out of ammo. She uses it in the final duel with the Major.

Heinkel's Pistols
Pip's sidearm of choice is a Single Action Army.
Heinkel Wolfe uses two silver handguns with wooden grips as her main weapons. They do not bear any close resemblance to any particular gun, indicating that they were custom-made by Iscariot. They do, however, seem to be based on a hybrid of the Browning BDA and several 1911-based pistols or could be based on the Coonan Arms .357 Magnum. Basically, the only thing that one can tie to a real-world weapon is that it appears to be based on the Browning Cam Lock system.

The priests of Iscariot each use a pair of handguns with black finishes. They are never given a good close-up, making identification difficult. Upon close inspection, it appears possible they are the same model as Heinkel's pistols, simply with a black finish, noting the fancy enlarged trigger guard. In the manga, they highly resembled Coonan Arms .357s.

Walther P38
In OVA 5, a nazi officer is seen holding a Walther P38 on Vice Admiral Sir Penwood. In the last Ova the Major pulls out a Walther P38 while dueling with Integra. Just like the MP40, it appears to be upgraded,as it fires aproximately 13 rounds without reloading while an ordinary P38 would only hold 8 rounds.

Sir Integra later uses a Webley pistol in the final episode, presumably that same one, after her P226 handgun runs out of ammo; in the final duel with the Major.

Seras's Rifle (Hellsing Anti-Midians 13.7mm)
This unnamed rifle was used by Seras before she was given the Hallconnen. She also used it with a drum magazine later on in the TV series and OVA. This weapon is clearly manufactured by the Hellsing organization for anti-vampire combat, though it is uncertain who was intended to wield it before Seras joined. The stock engraving reads "Anti-Midians" and gives the caliber of the round as a massive 13.7mm.
This unnamed rifle is used by Seras before she is given the Harkonnen I, presumably given to her by Walter once she joins the Hellsing Organization in Episode 1. It typically fires from a box magazine (which would appear to be able to hold around 10-15 rounds if real-world physics applied), but Seras also loads it with a drum magazine in Episode 3. This weapon is clearly manufactured by the Hellsing Organization for anti-vampire combat; it is uncertain who was intended to wield it before Seras joined, though it is possible it was strictly a mounted support weapon, or that it was designed (presumably by Walter) in between the time Seras joined and her first deployment. The stock engraving reads "Anti-Midians" and gives the caliber of the round as a massive 13.7mm. It appears to be a select-fire weapon, able to switch from semi-automatic to fully automatic, with the Kalashnikov-esque selector switch resting on the left side of the weapon. In the manga, "Baerlks" can be read among the weapon's rollmarks, possibly hinting that this is what the rifle is called. However, in the Ultimate series, one can find the word "Hallconnen" amongst the rollmarks, particularly in later episodes, which hints that Walter considers this a part of the Harkonnen series of rifles/artillery pieces.

In the television series, both the stock and barrel/fore-end were cut down, effectively turning these rifles into high-caliber pistols. In the Ultimate series, only the barrel and fore-end have been cut, and the stock has been left intact. Such a conversion in real life would essentially require a complete rebuild of the working parts of the rifle, since the Garand's operating piston is a rod that runs almost the entire length of the barrel, and a Garand gas piston shortened this much while firing the same round would probably explode. In the original manga, these were somewhat of a merging of the M1 Garand with the M1 Carbine (particularly noted by the rear sights).

Harkonnen I Cannon
Seras Victoria gets this fictional cannon later in the series. This is the weapon that Walter gives Seras in episode 5, "Brotherhood" and the OVA shows the same scene as well, in the 2nd episode. This weapon's name is rendered as "Hallconnen" but actually pronounced "Harkonnen" and is a reference to the primary antagonists of the novel Dune, House Harkonnen (the spelling discrepancy is the result of trying to fit the word into the Japanese syllabic writing system). The cannon is almost hilariously oversized, but Seras soon handles it like a normal rifle because of her strength as a vampire. Walter says that it uses depleted uranium shells, and high explosive rounds. The Harkonnen fires 30mm cannon shells.

This is effectively an artillery piece scaled down to so a person can hold it like a rifle, which Seras does from time to time. It operates using a traditional breech-action system.

Harkonnen II
The Harkonnen II is a fictional weapons system consisting of a pair 30mm automatic cannons coupled with an incredibly large ammunition supply. Seras uses these weapons to barrage Zorin's Zeppelin II in an overwhelming display of firepower. The ammunition containers are detachable, and Seras is seen using the Harkonnen II without them, though she quickly runs out of ammo. They appear to be both belt and magazine fed; when they're first seen, they're belt fed, however, in Episode 10, she loads them with box magazines. They also appear to be locked breech recoil operated, as the barrel moves when it fires and it has no gas tube.

Described as a "Wide area saturation, high explosive incendiary grenade launcher", the Vladimir (named after the "Dune" character) is a set of fictional muzzle-fired grenades that are part of the Harkonnen II weapon system. Seras uses these to deliver the final blow to Zorin's Zeppelin II. They are fired seemingly in a similar manner to most muzzle-fired grenades, however, the ignition seems to be primed with a live round, whilst most real grenades of this type are fired utilizing a blank round.

The Harkonnen II is a fictional weapons system consisting of a pair 30mm automatic cannons coupled with an incredibly large ammunition supply. Seras uses these weapons to barrage Zorin's zeppelin with an overwhelming display of firepower. The ammunition containers are detachable, and Seras is seen using Harkonnen II without them, though she quickly runs out of ammo.Trivia:they're both belt and magaszine fed. When they're first seen, they're belt fed.In OVA 10,however she loads them with mags. They also appear to be locked breech recoil operated,as the barrel moves when it fires and it has no gas tube.
C4 is utilized throughout much of the series.

Hellsing Ultimate (OVA Series) (2006 - 2012)

The following weapons were used in the OVA Hellsing Ultimate:

Error creating thumbnail: File missing WARNING! THIS PAGE CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Pistols

Hellsing Arms .454 Casull

Alucard's signature weapon is the Hellsing Arms .454 Casull (unofficially known as the "Joshua"). This weapon is the first custom handgun made by Hellsing, and was presumably designed by Walter. The Casull is believed to be based upon the Colt 1911 (or its variants like the longslide), however, it also bears a resemblance to early model Colt pistols, in any case, it appears to be a Browning Cam Lock system weapon. In some close-ups, one may note that the hammer is rarely fully cocked, indicative of either a double action or fast-action mechanism similar to the Daewoo DP51. The lengthy barrel and slide gives this gun incredible accuracy, and the weight at the front of the gun makes the massive round significantly more controllable. Something this extreme suits Alucard perfectly.

During the flashbacks to World War II (specifically 1944), which is seen in much of Ultimate's promotional material, Alucard is seen using this same weapon. This is anachronistic, as the .454 Casull round was developed in 1957.

Alucard fires, note the length of the weapon enabling (and probably necessitating, for a human) this "cradle" stance. Note that it does not appear to have the typical M1911 safety, or any indication of a manual safety at all!

Here we see a full-length shot of Alucard's signature weapon. The detail of the trademarks on the slide of the weapon is very impressive.

Jackal

Alucard's second handgun is the Jackal, which was also made especially for him. The Jackal was made by Walter after Alucard's first encounter with Anderson - in fact, it was specifically designed with him in mind, the phrase "'Jesus Christ is in Heaven Now'", a variation on a similar statement on Anderson's equipment, is engraved on the side. The Jackal has an overall length of 39cm (the same length as the Casull) and weighs 16kg. The slide covers the entire top frame, and there are thus no creases or lines on the top part of the gun, making room for the engraving. Obviously, no human could possibly use this gun without being blown away by it. The breech also faces the left, instead of the right, so it's more of a sister gun to the .454, though it's magazines can hold about the same amount of bullets that the Casull is capable of (that is, as many as the scene needs it to hold). The bullets are different as well, being a bigger 13mm, with blessed Macedonian silver casings, a reinforced core for armor penetration, a mercury explosive and each bullet being baptized. Compared to the Casull, the Jackal is distinctly lacking in terms of aesthetic features, and is devoid of any contours on the side or frame save for the grip. This suggests that Walter designed the weapon immediately after Alucard's encounter with Anderson and did not have time to improve its appearance. Much like the Casull pistol, the Jackal, despite dialogue explicitly stating it has a 6-round magazine, never needs to reload unless Alucard desires to.

This gun is of fantastic proportions. No 13mm round for a pistol was ever produced (due to the size and recoil), meaning each bullet must be manufactured by the Hellsing Organization, which is stamped on the rollmarks of the casings. It's curious as to how this weapon can weigh 16kg when a full-size 7.62X51mm machine gun typically only weighs 11kg, though the weight is probably necessary to control the 13mm rounds. With a gun this heavy one could probably utilize a .50 BMG round (which translates to 12.7x99mm) and still have the same desired effect.

SIG-Sauer P226

A SIG-Sauer P226 is seen in the hands of Seras Victoria during her time as a police officer. Integra also uses a P226, usually rendered with a nickel finish, as her sidearm as choice, stating that it is loaded with silver Heavy Explosive rounds. She later gives her handgun to Sir Penwood, a British navy commander and family friend, after his decision to hold his post in a hopeless effort to restore communications throughout the war, rather than evacuating. However, she also uses it during the final episode, which implies that Integra has a spare P226. Badrick ghouls are seen using a few in Episode 1. Pip also uses one in Episode 3, when hijacking a helicopter. 600

Colt M1991A1

Richard Hellsing uses an M1991A1 in a flashback in Episode 1. In the manga, this was a Kohta Hirano original, resembling a mixture of a SIG Sauer and a Kahr PM9. Sir Penwood also appears to use an M1911-pattern pistol to shoot at Jan Valentine in Episode 2.

Browning Hi-Power

A Browning Hi-Power was seen as the sidearm of a British officer in episode 5. Because of the black grips and ring hammer (as well as the fact that it is in the hands of a British military official), it can be assumed to be a British service L9A1.

Beretta 92FS

A Beretta 92FS is seen in the hands of a Round Table Council member in Episode 2, as well as a Hellsing operative in the same episode. A Brazilian SWAT officer also uses one in Episode 3, distinguished from a more appropriate Taurus PT92 by the slide-mounted safety.

Heinkel's Pistols

Heinkel Wolfe uses two silver handguns with wooden grips as her main weapons. They do not bear any close resemblance to any particular gun, indicating that they were custom-made by Iscariot. They do, however, seem to be based on a hybrid of the Browning BDA and several 1911-based pistols or could be based on the Coonan Arms .357 Magnum. Basically, the only thing that one can tie to a real-world weapon is that it appears to be based on the Browning Cam Lock system.

Iscariot Pistols

The priests of Iscariot each use a pair of handguns with black finishes. They are never given a good close-up, making identification difficult. Upon close inspection, it appears possible they are the same model as Heinkel's pistols, simply with a black finish, noting the fancy enlarged trigger guard. In the manga, they highly resembled Coonan Arms .357s.

Tokarev TT-33

During some flashbacks, we can see the Major in 1945 with a Tokarev TT-33 being pointed to his head. It's used by a Russian officer who wounds the Major in the streets of Berlin after the Soviet takeover. There are also Red Army soldiers firing their TT's while celebrating their victory at the Brandenburg Gate. Strangely, the TT-33s have squared trigger guards.

In Episode 5, a Nazi officer is seen holding a Walther P38 on Vice Admiral Sir Penwood. In the last episode, the Major pulls out a Walther P38 while dueling with Integra. It fires approximately 13 rounds without reloading, while an ordinary P38 would only hold 8 rounds.

Walther PP

At a few points, Luke Valentine draws and fires a nickel plated Walther PP concealed within his sleeve. This is different from the original TV series, in which he used a chrome plated Walther PPK/S. In the original manga, this was another Kohta Hirano original, somewhat resembling a Colt Junior.

Revolvers

Webley Mk VI

A Webley Mk VI revolver is used by Round Table Council President Sir Hugh Irons in Episode 2. He later gives his Webley pistol to Integra Hellsing, commanding her to execute her now-undead soldiers as punishment for her ill-preparedness that led to the total massacre of her forces. Sir Integra later uses a Webley pistol in the final episode, presumably that same one, after her P226 handgun runs out of ammo; in the final duel with the Major.

Submachine Guns

Customized FN P90s

Jan Valentine wields a pair of heavily modified FN P90s. Both have part of the stock and thumb hole grip removed, with a more conventional pistol grip placed instead. Suppressors have been added, along with underbarrel laser sights. His eye sigil adorns the side of the weapons. Both weapons also use what appear to be high powered scopes, as well as one being a night vision optic, instead of the P90's built-in reflex sight; which is a very odd choice of optics for a submachine gun, specifically in a planned assault on a cramped building.

It is also a bit odd that Jan's P90s do not act like they are suppressed, as noted by the muzzle flash and the loud report of his weapons while firing.

Jan Valentine's ghouls are primarily armed with H&K MP5K PDWs equipped with PVS-14 night vision scopes, suppressors, and jungle-style magazines, although the ghouls using riot shields do not have the scope mount. This same setup is also seen in the hands of a few Brazillian police officers in Episode 3. Much like Jan's P90s, the suppressors mounted on the MP5Ks do not seem to have any effect on the weapon.

Thompson M1928

A M1928 Thompson can be seen in Alucard's dream sequence at the beginning of the 5th Episode. The entire dream revolves around films based on Frederick Forsythe novels, most notably The Day of the Jackal (the titular character of which is alleged to be the spirit of Alucard's Jackal pistol). The Thompson is seen during a reference to The Fourth Protocol. Alucard (in the form of a small girl) can also be seen holding one in a flashback to WW2 in Episode 4.

Rifles/Carbines

Seras's Rifle (Hellsing Anti-Midians 13.7mm)

A closeup of Seras' rifle. Here we see in good detail, that the rifle was made by Hellsing Arms, the "Anti-Midians" engraving and the drum magazine that's loaded into the weapon. It is uncertain why a one-off specialty piece designed by a top-secret organization would have such detailed rollmarks which bear the organization's name; this would presumably become a problem if the weapon was lost.

In this shot, the rollmarks seem to have changed, note the word "Hallconnen" engraved on the rifle.

Cut-Down M1 Garands

Luke Valentine's weapon of choice is a pair of sawn-off M1 Garand rifles.

Colt Model 733

Colt Model 733s are carried by Hellsing operatives in Episode 2, as well as a couple of Jan's ghouls in the same episode, likely picked up from the dead Hellsing guards. They can be distinguished from M4 Carbines by the non-removable carrying handle and shorter, non-stepped barrels. In the manga, the standard longarm of the Hellsing Organization appears to have been the L85A1.

Several M16A2 rifles are used by Brazilian soldiers in an (unsuccessful) attempt to kill Anderson. They erroneously fire in full-auto, indicative of the possibility they may be A1s with A2 handguards, or M16A3s. In the manga, these were Galils.

At least one Brazilian soldier appears to have brought an M4 Carbine (or more likely an M4A1) to an attempt to assassinate Father Alexander Anderson in Episode 4. It can be identified as such by the LE 6-Position Stock and the removal of the carrying handle to mount an optic, which appears to be an Aimpoint M4S or similar red dot sight.

They appear to be fitted with AK-74-style muzzle devices, thus it is possible to assume they are intended to be AK-74s, as the rest of the Wild Geese are armed with those rifles, but the ribbed steel magazines appear to have a curve indicating a 5.56x45mm chambering, and as such, the rifles will be referred to as Type 84S's.

Papal Knights' Rifles (Modified PTRS-41s)

The Papal Knights of the Vatican's 9th Airborne Crusade use custom, long-barreled heavy rifles which are specifically designed to kill vampires, as their main weapons. They strongly resemble PTRS-41 AT rifles. However, they utilize what seem to be detachable magazines, unlike the original rifle, and have different muzzle brakes. The main attachments are large bayonets and halberds. The rifles curiously have a very weak firing sound despite their large caliber, somewhat resembling that of muskets.

Rip Van Winkle's Magic Flintlock Musket (Jezail Musket)

Obersturmführer Rip Van Winkle uses a Jezail musket which fires magic bullets. The magic bullets are capable of fully penetrating a target, changing trajectory during the flight and repeatedly hitting multiple other targets, expiring only after all of the targets are neutralized. Because of her magic musket, she sees herself akin to Kaspar from Carl Maria von Weber's Der Freischütz, and is seen singing part of the opera while shooting down a group of jets attempting to attack the aircraft carrier she has highjacked.

Heavy Weapons

Harkonnen I Cannon

Walter presents Seras with this fictional cannon in Episode 2. This weapon's name is rendered as "Hallconnen" but actually pronounced "Harkonnen" and is a reference to the primary antagonists of the novel Dune, House Harkonnen (the spelling discrepancy is the result of trying to fit the word into the Japanese syllabic writing system). The Harkonnen fires 30mm cannon shells. The cannon is almost hilariously oversized, but Seras handles it like a normal rifle because of her strength as a vampire. Walter says that it uses depleted uranium shells, as well as high explosive rounds.
