There is one very obvious difference between the Compact and Subcompact (I own a full size Px4, and studied them immensely prior to making that purchase); the Compact uses the same rotating cam barrel mechanism as its full size sibling. The Sub-compact does not, using a tilt-barrel system like many other semi-auto pistols. Compare slides on both in those pictures above, then look at the screen captures. To me its apparent that its a subcompact. | There is one very obvious difference between the Compact and Subcompact (I own a full size Px4, and studied them immensely prior to making that purchase); the Compact uses the same rotating cam barrel mechanism as its full size sibling. So I had the privilege of visiting Independent Studio Services about a week ago, and had the opportunity to see some of the guns used in Westworld. I saw the red P90s, as well as the several LeMet revolvers used by Ed Harris in the show. One particular revolver was one I didn't even know existed, which was a custom-made Ruger Vaquero that was mocked up to resemble a LeMat from a distance (The cylinder/barrel assembly and trigger guard were custom-mounted on a Ruger frame/grip). I haven't heard anything about this gun and thought you'd all be interested in it.
It was explained to me that this was done because Ed Harris' hands have lost some of their strength in recent years, and the LeMat is a very strenuous gun to fire repeatedly. The Ruger SAA-pattern revolver was much easier to shoot, particularly for rapid-fire take after take, so it was made for shots taken further away to be easier on his hands.
Unfortunately, the shop was busy while I was there and I didn't get the opportunity to take any pictures. If I get a chance to get any in the future I'll be sure to post them here. --[[User:Caldwellb734|Caldwellb734]] ([[User talk:Caldwellb734|talk]]) 10:46, 1 April 2017 (EDT)

I've had a couple notes that the PX4 is the subcompact, not the compact, can anyone confirm? --bunni (talk) 13:23, 8 December 2016 (EST)

- I concur, looks more like a sub-compact than a standard compact variant. It's still really hard to tell - the two are extremely similar with few obvious differences, but the profile seems to match the subcompact more. --Sergeant Simpleton (talk) 19:51, 8 December 2016 (EST)

Red Barrels / Paint
The red barrels and paint schemes, based on context, seem to definitively identify a "real" firearm from an in-world one. As mentioned in the show, "You can't kill anyone you are not supposed to" with the in-world weapons, and we see in S01E01 that Teddy's gun can "kill" other Hosts, but not the Man in Black. As opposed to the weapons carried by the security/QA staff, which would be marked in a very obvious way to denote their "real" lethalness. See the end of Episode 10 where Hector and Armistice slaughter most of the security staff with their Red P90s.
The possible exception to this rule might be the revolver Delores uses at the end of S01E10 to kill Ford; but Ford also explicitly tells us that said gun existed at the very beginning of the park (being the one used to kill Arnold); so the "Red Gun" protocols might not have been in place at that point, or the weapon may have been specifically modified by Arnold himself. I emphasize might because there is a theory that the Ford that was shot was another Host.

Ruger Vaquero / LeMat Mockup

Krag-Jorgensen?
