Alan Thicke (1947-2016) was a Canadian-born actor perhaps best known for his role as the father Jason Seaver in the ABC sitcom ''Growing Pains''. He also was the host of the 1980's Canadian talk show ''The Alan Thicke Show'' and later the US talk show ''Thicke of the Night''. He also worked as a television composer, creating themes for several game shows such as ''The Jokers Wild'' and ''Celebrity Sweepstakes'' and such sitcoms as ''The Facts of Life'' and ''Diff'rent Strokes''.  In addition, he was the father of singer Robin Thicke. He passed away from an apparent heart attack at the age of 69 on December 13, 2016.

Alan Thicke (1947-2016) was a Canadian-born actor perhaps best known for his role as the father Jason Seaver in the ABC sitcom Growing Pains.
