Company of Heroes 2 is the successor to the 2006 real-time strategy video game Company of Heroes. Like its predecessor, the game is set in World War II, but this time with a focus on the Eastern Front during the German-Soviet War. The computer game was developed by Relic Entertainment until the bankruptcy of the original publisher THQ and is distributed by Sega since June 25, 2013.
The Western Front Armies add-on was released on June 24, 2014. The multiplayer expansion is standalone and runs without the full version. The focus is again on the battlefield of the first part (Western Front in France), the main focus of the expansion is the Battle of the Bulge and the March on Paris. The game is expanded by the two new factions U.S. Forces and the Oberkommando West.
At Gamescom 2014, the standalone add-on Ardennes Assault was presented, which has been available since November 8, 2014. The non-linear campaign over 18 missions is set on the side of the United States Army against the backdrop of the Battle of the Bulge at the turn of the year 1944/45.
The last multiplayer add-on called The British Forces released in September 2015, brought in the namesake British fraction.
The following weapons appear in the video game Company of Heroes 2:
Handguns
Colt M1911A1
The Colt M1911A1 is carried by American Majors and medics. British medics are also armed with M1911A1s. Some GIs like the Lieutenant can be seen with holstered Colts in-game.
Luger P08
German officers carry Luger P08s.
Nagant M1895
The Nagant M1895 revolver is the standard sidearm of the Soviet commissar and shares the reload animation with the pistols despite being a cylinder-feeder sidearm.
Submachine Guns
M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 Thompson is used by American squads like the Paratroopers. Elite Tank Crews also use it instead of "Grease Guns". The British Assault Infantry Section and Soviet Assault Guards squads can also acquire two Thompsons.
M3 "Grease Gun"
U.S Tank crews, Assault Engineers, and Cavalry Riflemen are armed with M3 "Grease Gun" submachine guns.
MP40
Ostheer Pioneers, Assault Grenadiers, and weapon teams are armed with MP40s. OKW Volksgrenadiers can use it via an "Assault Package" upgrade.
PPSh-41
PPSh-41 Submachine Guns are used by Soviet Shock Troops and Partisans. They can also be issued to Airborne Guards or Conscripts via the Advanced Warfare Tactics, Conscripts Support Tactics, and Soviet Reserve Army doctrine.
Sten Mk. II
British Royal Engineer squad and soldiers accompanying the Airlanding Officer carry Sten Mk IIs. The covert ops variant, the Mk. IIS, is also used by British Commandos.
Rifles
FG 42
Two members of the Fallschirmjäger squad are armed with FG 42 paratrooper rifles by default. After building the Schwerer Panzer HQ, all members can be equipped with the rifle by an upgrade.
Gewehr 43
The German sniper uses a Gewehr 43 equipped with a Zielfernrohr 4 scope. The rifle can also be upgraded to a few Oberkommando West and Ostheer squads. It is anachronistically used by a German sniper in a Stalingrad campaign mission set in October 1942 when the rifle was produced from October 1943 onward in reality.
Karabiner 98k
The Karabiner 98k is the standard rifle for the Ostheer and the Oberkommando West.
Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk. I
The Lee-Enfield No. 4 Mk I is the standard rifle for British soldiers in-game. At the early stage of the add-on The British Forces, the Infantry Section could get two scoped Lee-Enfield rifles after reaching the third Veteran level. This feature is no longer present in the current state of the game; this weapon model was removed by one of the updates. The Infantry Section only receives increased accuracy and decreased weapon cooldown.
M1 Carbine
The M1 Carbine is carried by the Rear Echelon Troops, Rangers, and some members of officer teams. Paratroopers also use these rifles instead of the M1A1 version.
M1 Garand
American Riflemen squad carry M1 Garand. The Pathfinders use M1C Sniper Variants.
Mosin Nagant M91/30
The Mosin Nagant M91/30 is the standard rifle for the Soviets. The Russian sniper uses the scoped version.
Sturmgewehr 44
German Panzergrenadier and Sturmpioneer Squads are armed with Sturmgewehr 44s. They can also be given to Volksgrenadiers and Grenadier veteran squad leaders via an upgrade. The Obersoldaten can be equipped with special STGs outfitted with a Zielgerät 1229 Vampir infrared night vision device that better detects hidden enemies after selecting the Grand Offensive or Special Operations Doctrine.
Tokarev SVT-40
The Penal Battalions, Commissar Command Squads, and Assault Guards carry Tokarev SVT-40 rifles. The Conscript Infantry Squad can also be upgraded with the rifle.
Anti-Materiel Rifles
Boys Mk. III
The British .55 cal Armor-Piercing Sniper and Tank Hunter Infantry Section use Boys anti-tank rifles.
Panzerbüchse 39
Since the "Theatre of War" campaign missions take place on the Eastern Front between 1941 and 1943, the Panzergrenadier squad is accordingly issued with one Panzerbüchse 39 by default instead of the Panzerschreck. However, when the user is killed and the rifle falls to the ground, the weapon model of the Panzerbüchse changes to the PTRS-41.
PTRS-41
Soviet Guards have access to PTRS-41 rifles. They can also be given to Penal Troops or Conscripts via an upgrade.
Machine Guns
Bren Mk. II
British soldiers can use Bren Mk. II light machine guns. It can also be seen on Universal Carriers.
Browning M1918A2
U.S. squads can pick up M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifles at the BAR Weapon Pack.
Browning M1919A6
The Browning M1919A6 is only available for the U.S. Forces when selecting the Infantry Company or Tactical Support Company doctrine at the M1919A6 Light Machine Gun Weapon Pack.
Browning M2HB
The main heavy machine gun for the American faction is the Browning M2HB.
Degtyaryov DP-27
Soviet Guards can be equipped with a Degtyaryov DP-27 light machine gun.
Degtyaryov-Shpagin DShK
The DShK heavy machine gun can be deployed as a weapon team with the Community Defensive Tactics or Lend Lease Tactics doctrine. The Airborne Troops Tactics give the player access to a paradrop DshK HMG.
Maxim M1910/30
The Maxim M1910/30 is used by the Soviet Heavy Machine Gun team which is referred the M1910 Maxim in-game. When German soldiers are under fire by a Maxim, they sarcastically call it an "antique" or "old thing".
MG 34
Oberkommando West squads have the MG34 as their heavy machine gun. Ostheer can airdrop them directly on the battlefield with a proper doctrine. A more mobile version can be given to Obersoldaten.
MG 42
The MG42 is used by the Ostheer Heavy MG team and as turrets for tanks. The Grenadier squad can be equipped with a light version.
Vickers K
The Airlanding Officer can be equipped with the Vickers. Additionally, it can be given to any infantry unit as a weapon drop from a supply M5 Halftrack. When choosing the Anvil Specialization, the Royal Engineer squad also has access to one Vickers K machine gun.
Vickers Mk. I
The Vickers Machine Gun is used by the British Heavy MG team. The in-game model is incorrectly modeled with a left receiver.
Flamethrowers
ATO-41
The KV-8 Flamethrower Tank has a mounted ATO-41 flame-thrower as its main armament.
Crocodile’s flame projector
Flammenwerfer 35
German Pionier squad can be equipped with a Flammenwerfer 35.
Flammenwerfer 42
The Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track of the Ostheer can be upgraded with two side-mounted Flammenwerfer 42s becoming the Sd.Kfz. 251/16.
M2 Flamethrower
The U.S. engineer squad can be equipped with M2 Flamethrower. Like in Company of Heroes the Flamethrower in-game has no front grip except when it is abandoned. The Royal Engineer squad can also be equipped with this flamethrower instead of the No. 2 Portable Flamethrower.
ROKS-3
Soviet Combat Engineer squad and the Penal Battalion can be equipped with ROKS-3 flamethrowers.
WASP Mk. II
The Bren carrier can be equipped with a WASP flamethrower system, including a Ronson flamethrower.
Launchers
Gewehrgranatengerät
Instead of the Russian-made Dyakonov Rifle Grenade Launcher, the Soviet sniper rifle can be seen fitted with German Gewehrgranatengerät when firing a flare into the air. However, the German Grenadier squad can fire a rifle grenade with the Gewehrgranatengerät. While the OKW Panzerfüsiliere has the ability to fire a flare with the mounted Gewehrgranatengerät, oddly enough, it can also fire the associated Gewehr-Sprenggranate without the mounted rifle grenade launcher.
M9 Bazooka
U.S. squads and Soviet Storm Guards can be equipped with M9 Bazookas.
Panzerfaust
Multiple OKW and Ostheer squads can use Panzerfausts as a unit ability.
Panzerschreck
Ostheer Panzergrenadiers and Stormtroopers, OKW Sturmpioneers and Panzerfüsiliers, and Soviet Partisan Tank Hunters can be equipped with Panzerschrecks.
PIAT
The PIAT can be issued to British soldiers.
Grenades & Explosives
Blendkörper 2H
The Fallschirmjäger and Obersoldaten squads can throw a Blendkörper 2H smoke grenade after gaining combat experience.
Gammon Grenade

The grenade launcher itself appears only as an icon symbol.
Mk. 2
American soldiers can throw Mk 2 hand grenades. This grenade stands in for the British Mills Bomb, which is also only seen as an icon symbol.
Model 24 Stielhandgranate
The Model 24 Stielhandgranate is available in several variants with always the same look in-game; as the standard, smoke, stun, impact fuse, and incendiary grenade. Some Soviet units have the ability to throw alleged an RDG-1 smoke grenade, but when used it is a German stick grenade.
Geballte Ladung
A Geballte Ladung cluster grenade can also be used by Obersoldaten and Panzergrenadiers squads.
Molotov cocktail
After unlocking the "Conscript Grenade Package" at the Regimental Field Headquarters, Conscripts can throw Molotov cocktails.
PMD-6 anti-personnel mine
The PMD-6 Mine can be deployed by Soviet Pioneers.
POMZ-2 anti-personnel mine
The POMZ-2 anti-personnel mine appears in-game as a flare-trap mine.
RG-42
Another grenade that can be thrown by Soviet Shock Troops is the RG-42 hand grenade. This grenade is also seen standing in for British Smoke and Soviet RDG-1 smoke grenades. The in-game called No. 77 white phosphorus grenade is also just this grenade.
RGD-33
Soviet units like the Commissar, Guard, and Shock Troop have access to RGD-33 stick grenades.
