The Devil's Brigade is a 1968 World War II film that stars Oscar winners William Holden and Cliff Robertson. The film is based on the true story of the First Special Service Force led by Lt. Col. Robert T. Frederick (Holden), who takes on the daunting task of melding a renegade group of American and Canadian recruits into a crack team of commandos. The cast also includes Richard Jaeckel, Bill Fletcher, Richard Dawson, Tom Troupe, Luke Askew, Jean-Paul Vignon, Tom Stern, and Harry Carey Jr.

Captain Cardwell (Tom Stern) carries a Smith & Wesson Model 20 revolver with custom grips that he uses when he notices a rattlesnake in the barracks.
