The Player is a 1992 satire directed by Robert Altman and starring Tim Robbins as Griffin Mill, a film studio executive who finds himself involved in the murder of struggling screenwriter David Kahane (Vincent D'Onofrio). The film featured numerous famous actors in cameos including Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Jack Lemmon, and Burt Reynolds.

In the film within the film, Bruce Willis in the role of a defense lawyer is seen taking an Ithaca 37 off a corrections guard (Dennis Franz) to blast a hole in a gas chamber.
