I'm pretty sure the sniper rifle in this game was not the Mauser G98, but was actually the G43 as it was semiautomatic, despite having an incorrect magazine capacity of 5 rounds instead of 10.
It assuredly a G43, and that second MG was a Hotchkiss, the game even tells you so! BeardedHoplite 17:51, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Crossbow
Although technically not a firearm (therefore not a rifle) a crossbow is used as a silent sniping weapon. The bowstring appears to be an elastic band suspended on a metal frame. It fires all metal bolts.
The Big Joe as it was referred to was a crossbow actually used by the OSS at the time
Playing through the game right now. Added a pic of the Big Joe 5, and I'll add a screen shot and level/mission summary for it when I get that far in the game. 11:00 PDT, 18-MAR-12
Added the Screen Shot, and, a bonus - the picture of it from the Briefing File.
Shotgun
I changed "unknown shotgun" to Winchester Model 12. I have a screen shot of a Debrief where it specifically refers to the weapon as the W12 Riot Shotgun.
I also have a Screen Shot proving the Bonus Mission shotgun IS NOT the Winchester 1897, but the W12 again. Thus, I deleted any mention of the M1897.
High Standard HDM
The Walther P38 was incorrectly identified as the Suppressed Pistol (a mention was made that a "suppressed version" was available). I have uploaded a screen shot from the Multiplayer Menu showing that it is, in fact, an HDM Pistol, and have added the appropriate entry.
Photographer Disguise
In Level 2 of Hunting the Desert Fox (Mission 2), Manon infiltrates the Afrika Korps base and steals a French female photographer's camera and pass, and uses it to move freely through the base. Like the Ausweis in the first game, other passes are collected along the way to gain access to certain areas. A 35mm Camera can be used to take photos of anything, including enemies who will gladly pose for you, and even some items worth capturing to complete the mission. Some enemies will not react to you aiming the camera at them, and will cover their eyes when photographed. Once your cover is blown and enemies engage you, flashing the camera at them will briefly hinder their attack. The Photographer Disguise is used again in Undercover in Crete (Mission 3).
