Handguns
Colt New Service
Sam Clayton (Gene Hackman) carries a Colt New Service revolver. This actually works since the story takes place in 1909 and the New Service was introduced by Colt in 1898.
Smith & Wesson 44 Hand Ejector 2ND Model
Carbo (Jan-Michael Vincent) carries what appears to be a S&W 44 Hand Ejector. 2ND Model as his revolver of choice. Unlike the Colt New Service this weapon choice is anachronistic. The S&W 44 Hand Ejector "Triple Lock" was introduced in 1907, but until 1915 it was manufactured with a protective housing for the ejector rod. It wasn't until 1915 that S&W eliminated the lug. Since the story is set in 1909 Carbo (Jan-Michael Vincent) would not have the 2ND Model of the .44 Hand Ejector.
Colt SAA
Luke Matthew's (James Coburn) revolver of choice is what appears to be the "Quick Draw" SAA Revolver.
Remington Model 1866 Derringer
Sir Harry Norfolk (Ian Bannen), one of the participants in the race, has a bad fall and his horse breaks it's leg. Luke Matthews (James Coburn) comes along and lends him his Remington 1866 Derringer so that he can put the horse out of it's misery.
Rifle
Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine
The Winchester Model 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine is carried by both Luke Matthews (James Coburn) and Sam Clayton (Gene Hackman) both carry and use the compact little carbine when taking on a band of horse thieves. Unlike many other westerns made in the fifties and sixties the use of the Winchester 1892 is actually period correct for the time that the story takes place.
Shotgun
12 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun
A 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun is used by a would-be rapist to get Miss Jones (Candice Bergen) to comply with his orders. It is then turned against him by Miss Jones (Candice Bergen).
