Hi there.  I noticed that early on during your tenure at IMFDB you undid a naming protocol that I did for the Smith & Wesson Revolvers.  I am hoping that you understand WHY I did this and why removing it screws up the order upon which the guns appear in the listing.  At the bottom of the page (take Smith & Wesson Model 1 for example) I put in the name "Smith & Wesson Model 001" for a specific reason.  Utilizing the three digit naming nomenclature (at the bottom of the page) allows the models to be correctly listed by name in the proper order when looking at the list of gun pages.  That way, the Model 1 does NOT come after the Model 10.  I've pointed this out to other members at the (before you were on IMFDB) so you may not have caught that reason.  Hope this helps.  Just wanted to explain what the reason was for putting this at the bottom of the page and why I ask others not to remove it.  Thanks. :D  MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 02:09, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

I joined IMFDB firstly because the page for the AMC show Hell on Wheels was sorely lacking in content and I wish to improve that. I am not able to get my hand on an American DVD release of Hell on Wheels (as per the IMFDB regulations) but I do have a paid netflix account from which I was able to pull screenshots for the firearms I wish to add for the page (namely the Winchester Model 1866, the Henry Model 1860 and Elam`s "Arkansas Toothpick"). I just wanted to check whether these images are okay to upload and use for the television shows page before hand as to avoid any warnings or getting banned.

Sorry to disturb you for such a minor problem but I need some technical help. When I'm trying to to create a hyperlink for a name or title that has letters with diacritical signs I encounter the following problem:

---

Database error

A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the software. The last attempted database query was:

(SQL query hidden)

from within function "LinkHolderArray::replaceInternal". Database returned error "1271: Illegal mix of collations for operation ' IN ' (192.168.130.4)".

It happens not with all such letters. For example, š can be used correctly, but using ć (in the name of Serbian actor) or ă (in the title of Romanian movie) results in error. It happens only when using such letters in hyperlinks. In common text they can be used without any problem. I have already posted a topic about this problem on IMFDB forum but had no answer.

Is it possible to solve this problem now or in future? Thanks in advance. Greg-Z (talk) 03:43, 9 May 2013 (EDT)

IMFDB upgrade: dispatch schedule products
Hi Zackmann, just a question about the IMFDB upgrade fund-raising project that came up in May. I ordered a few small items and I was just curious when I could expect them. I know there's probably a zillion things on your mind, but I would appreciate if you could give me a small update. By the way, I honestly feel it is a pity that not enough funds could be raised. Shortcut templates

If you're thinking about creating a page for editing shortcuts, here's some templates I've created that should help --Ben41 02:32, 25 July 2012 (CDT):

ActorF = and

ActorM = and

Film War = and

Film Comedy = and

Film Crime Drama = , and

SS =

PCA = sorry zackman, i know this isn't the right place to talk to you, but I cannot find the right place, so here goes... I have made an edit and would like to upload a photograph to support it, but I cannot find any instructions on how to do it. how do I upload photographs to a page?

Ha!

Once again, great minds think alike. --Funkychinaman 10:35, 24 August 2012 (CDT)

S&W Model 1

I think he was on the right track changing this (but went abut it the wrong way), as the current image we have for the Model 1 is not a Model 1. If you look at the one in the history (which is a Model 1 first issue) you can see that there are quite a few differences. I'll sort it out with some better pictures of the first, second and third issues for reference to clear it up. --commando552 10:43, 24 August 2012 (CDT)

Apology accepted. I saw the mistake and just fixed it asap with the best S&W Model 1 pic I could find. You were right, I should have brought it up with one of the admins instead of just fixing it. --charterarmsoffduty 10:33, 25 August 2012 (CDT)

Deleting screenshots

Is there any way to delete a screenshot without actually have to access the page? A screenshot I've uploaded for the film The Rundown now causes the page to not load and I would like to delete that jpg and a few others. Here are the filenames: File:Rund.jpg File:Rundown.jpg File:Therundown.jpg

If you try to click on this files, you will be taken to a blank page with the following warning:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 11908 bytes) in /home/imfdb/public_html/w/includes/media/Bitmap.php on line 213

If there's anything you can do, please help. Thanks --Ben41 23:01, 3 September 2012 (CDT)

I didn't think the system would allow a Gunmaster45 and a GunMaster45. It's not the same person, is it? If not, is it a good idea to allow a new user a name so close to an admin? --Funkychinaman (talk) 16:51, 2 November 2012 (EDT)

Questioning my change

(edit) sorry, I was fixing a change I was going to make. The original maker identified the gun as a Stainless Model 36. Since there is no Stainless 36, I changed it to a Model 60 (which would be the correct identifier for that model if made in SS). You should bring up your challenge to them, not me. :D As to what I as doing - I recently uploaded a correct S&W model 36 nickel plated 1st gen photo. The photo I had uploaded previously was mislabeled as a stainless Model 36. It was actually a photo of a Satin Stainless Model 60. At the time I took the first old photo, the owner (not me) quipped that it was a Stainless Model 60. I was not as educated about S&W model nomenclature as I am now, so I loaded the pic as such. But what he meant (and what I later learned myself) that he was merely describing the "Model 60" as "the stainless Model 36". Anyway, enough backstory about the pics, but that is why I'm fixing pages which used the Model 60 pic as a 'nickel' Model 36. And any page that utilizes the Model 60 description, I either put in a correct pic of a Model 60 or did minor grammar or spelling changes. I left the gun IDs to the creators of the pages. I see it now. Is there any way to link to existing images on the site or do we just have to upload everything? --Funkychinaman (talk) 19:43, 12 March 2013 (EDT)

Gallery

The MPM gallery DOES look great. Thanks. I do tend to keep the pics in chronological order on my user page because it's my way of remembering 'when' i uploaded 'what' and during what month. LOL. Weird, but it helps me remember what bulk uploads I did in the past. Noting the 'timeline' of when I do stuff helps me mentally keep track of what work has been done and what needs to be done. But the Gallery is a cool tool. Hope you like the new pic uploads. Some of the pics might not merit their own page yet, until the model is used in a movie/tv show/game/anime. But I want to make sure IMFDB has a record of the image when it is needed. I will probably look more at the Gallery style when I have a bit more time. Right now I have a time period when I'm grabbing as many gun pics as I can. :D best regards MoviePropMaster2008 (talk) 01:09, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

An explanation of the numbering protocol I came up with

I've been following the Anime and guns articles and would like to make my own contributions since I'm a die hard anime fan, specifically of the kinds with guns in them. Excalibur01 (talk) 13:13, 18 July 2013 (EDT)

Keep up the good work and thanks in advance, PeeWee055 (talk) 04:39, 22 August 2013 (EDT)

Hi Zackmann08, thanks for the response. I'll just wait a few more weeks, don't worry. I live in Holland and ordered a patch and a sticker (sorry, I am temporarily on a very tight budget...) so I guess that should be send pretty easily. Take care, PeeWee055 (talk) 08:39, 26 August 2013 (EDT)
Hi Zackmann08, just checking to see if you have received an e-mail from me that I send through support@imfdb.org on 24th October. You were saying that all goods from the fundraiser would be shipped by September 1st but so far I have not received anything. That e-mail contains my payment details which should be helpful to determine what's been happening. Thanks a lot for letting me know, PeeWee055 (talk) 09:04, 6 November 2013 (EST)
Hi Zackmann, thanks for the quick response. I just resend my last month's e-mail to support@imfdb.org. Thanks for checking, PeeWee055 (talk) 15:10, 6 November 2013 (EST)
Hi Zackmann08, hello from Holland! Any news on my above resend e-mail of 6th November? I was hoping to hear from you about some stuff that I ordered and paid to support IMFDB on 5th May (...). Dispatch would be September latest but I still have not received anything, be it my order or a dispatch schedule. Maybe I better resend the above e-mail to a different mail address or contact Rockethub myself? Please let me know if I should wait to receive anything or maybe consider my payment to be a general 'gift' to IMFDB? Looking forward to hear from you and thanks in advance for checking, PeeWee055 (talk) 10:47, 25 November 2013 (EST)

Thank you!

Thank you for promoting me to Admin status! I'll try to do the best I can for the IMFDB, and not fail. Greg-Z (talk) 02:30, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

Server issues

Any ideas regarding all the editing downtime we've been having recently? We've had 12+ hour blackouts where nobody could edit, login or upload images and we're kind of wondering what's going on. Seems uploads just went down again, too. Evil Tim (talk) 15:26, 9 November 2013 (EST)

Hey

Good to see you back, it's been a while. --Funkychinaman (talk) 23:44, 2 October 2014 (EDT)
