I believe they made a conventional submachine gun based on the VP in 1918, but I'm not sure if that was before or after the MP18. Can this be classified as the first submachine gun? All this was really was a mounted machine gun that fired 9mm Glisenti ammunition. You couldn't carry the damned thing unless you were an Italian bodybuilder. The German's MP18 was the first in my opinion.
I believe they made a conventional submachine gun based on the VP in 1918, but I'm not sure if that was before or after the MP18. Though it failed or something, didn't the French make a submachine gun before Italy and Germany? Or was that an assault rifle? Scutshakes 16:41, 3 January 2012 (CST)
