The film, which is based on true events, takes place in 1991 at the height of the Somalian Civil War and the military coup d'état against the government of Somali general and president Mohamed Siad Barre, and follows a group of South and North Korean diplomats and their families as they attempt to hide and escape from the violence and anarchy-filled streets of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

In the image on the right, the rebels can be seen holding an M16A1, another G3, and several AKS-47s. One of the rifles in the image is also identified within the film as a North Korean Type 68, a copy of the AKM.
