The King's Choice is a 2016 Norwegian war drama directed by Erik Poppe that tells the events of the German invasion of Norway in April 1940. On April 9, 1940, the Germans invade Norway with warships and bombers. The aging King Haakon VII and Crown Prince Olav, however, do not want to collaborate with the Nazis and support the resistance. The royal family has to flee from the advancing troops by train. Meanwhile, the German envoy Curt Bräuer desperately tries to reach a truce.
