The Host is a 2013 romantic science-fiction movie directed by Andrew Niccol (Lord of War) and was adapted from the novel written by Stephenie Meyer (the author of the Twilight book series). The story is set in a not-too distant future, when Earth has been taken over by Souls, a non-corporeal alien race who occupy human bodies.
One of the human survivors, Melanie (Saoirse Ronan), sets out to find her boyfriend Jared (Max Irons). Before she can do so, Melanie is caught by The Seeker (Diane Kruger), who inserts Soul Wanda into her head. Melanie convinces Wanda to escape and the two of them (in one body) face an uncertain future.
The following weapons can be seen in the movie The Host:
Glock 17
A Glock 17 with stainless steel slide and front serrations is used prominently in the movie. It is used by a member of the resistance, by The Seeker (Diane Kruger) and in the final scene by Melanie’s boyfriend Jared (Max Irons).
Ruger Mini-14
A blued Ruger Mini-14 is used by members of the resistance during the highway shoot-out with Seekers.
Strayer Voigt Infinity
In the final scene, Seeker Burns (Alex Russell) carries a customized stainless steel Strayer Voigt Infinity with compensator as he checks a car transporting members of the resistance. It’s probably the same gun used on all seasons of the TV show Heroes.
Smith & Wesson Model 19
In one of the first scenes, Melanie’s father Trevor (J.D. Evermore) picks up a Smith & Wesson Model 19 to defend their residence from Seekers.
Over and Under Shotgun
Melanie’s uncle, and leader of the resistance group, Jeb (William Hurt), carries an unidentified over and under shotgun. Melanie’s brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her boyfriend Jared are seen carrying it as well.
