The Flash is the 1990 television series adaptation of the DC Comics superhero and stars John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen. The series premiered in the midst of the popularity of Tim Burton-directed Batman film and the series somewhat reflected the darker tones of that feature (the TV theme was even created by Batman composer Danny Elfman). The series aired for 22 episodes from 1990 to 1991 in the US on CBS. A second television adaptation premiered in the US on the CW Network in 2014 (Shipp appears in that series as the father of Barry Allen). The entire series was later retroactively canonized into the Arrowverse.
