Nice, but where's the trigger? This article or section is incomplete. You can help IMFDB by expanding it. |
The following weapons appear in the video game The Darkness:
Handguns
Colt MK IV Series 70
Jackie Estacado's two main sidearms in the game are Colt MK IV Series 70s with nickel plating and custom black filled engraving, which are given to him as gifts for his 21st birthday. In nearly all the cutscenes, we see Jackie playing with the guns in various manners, usually with his finger on the triggers. While other guns can be picked up, you will always resort to these last before completely running out of pistol ammo.
Heckler & Koch USP
Jackie can pick up and dual wield Heckler & Koch USP pistols in the game.
IMI Desert Eagle Mark XIX
Jackie can pick up and dual wield IMI Desert Eagle Mark XIX pistols presumably chambered in .50 AE. The game's dark lighting makes it hard to tell at times but they appear to be nickel plated. It is also able to fire more than 7 rounds, somewhere around 10 or 12, maybe more. The end of the weapon is slanted strangely and the grip and overall proportions are not quite right for a Desert Eagle. For some reason the high quality and more realistic model from the early version of the game was replaced with a low quality model in the final game. It is an Mark XIX because of the taller slide serrations than on the Mark VII and a scope rail on the barrel, which is more distinct on the earlier high quality model.
Mauser C96
Mauser C96 pistols are used by the German "zombies" in the Darkness world and can be picked up and dual wielded by Jackie. Even though it is semi-automatic only, a "Schnellfeuer"-selector-switch is present. This is anachronistic, but might be possible due to the "never ending World War".
Taurus 817 ULC
A Taurus 817 is one of the revolvers Jackie can pick-up.
Unknown Revolvers
There are three revolvers in the game, One large black one (possible S&W custom), a large stainless one (possibly a Taurus Model 44), and a mid-sized revolver. All are able to be picked up and used by the player akimbo.
The large revolvers are actually fictional guns based on non-firing models. Both are based on Smith & Wesson Model 29s, called Devil & Satan. The blockier, bulkier one is Devil, the other is Satan. They can actually come in black or silver in the game. see: http://www.dentrinity.com/NelsonChen/Collection/Revolver/Km-29/M29sd.jpg
Submachine Guns
Brügger & Thomet MP9
Jackie can pick up and dual wield stockless Brügger & Thomet MP9 submachine guns with or without suppressors. They inaccurately feature cocking handles on the side of the gun, when it actually has a T charging handle on the top-back like an M16.
Shotguns
Franchi SPAS-12
A Franchi SPAS-12 can be used in the game and fires in semi-automatic only, and is the first weapon Jackie uses, being given it during the game's introduction upon which he takes a ridiculously long time to load it. It inaccurately holds 10 rounds, when it actually holds 8+1 rounds in real life.
Pancor Jackhammer
Heavily modified Pancor Jackhammer shotguns are used mainly by the SWAT teams and can also be equipped by Jackie. Instead of the real-life 10-round cassette, the weapon is inaccurately shown to have an impossible capacity of 64 rounds. Additional deviations from the real-life weapon include: removing the original bullpup configuration and placing the cassette ahead of the grip; numerous vent holes across the barrel; and front sights.
Rifles
Hybrid Rifle
When in the Darkness world (a strange version of WWI), all the soldiers use hybrid rifles that bear resemblance to a Lee-Enfield No. 1 Mk III* rifles, with the loading action of a Krag-Jørgensen rifle, with some moderate traits of a Mauser Gewehr 1898.
AK-47
AK-47 assault rifles are used by police and gangsters and can be used by Jackie. Despite being fitted with a 30 round magazine, it only holds 20 rounds.
M4A1 Carbine
M4A1 Carbines are used by SWAT teams and NYPD. Jackie can pick up and use them as well. In the game it is seen fitted with a 20 round magazine but the capacity is 30 rounds.
Machineguns
Fictional Minigun
A fictional five barreled Minigun is used by the Gunner Darkling to unleash hell on any desired target. It seems to have no source of ammunition or power.
Browning M1917 Water-Cooled
Mounted on the tank Anthony Estacado drives are dual Browning M1917 Water-Cooled machine guns, which Jackie mans as he drives across the Darkness battlefield. When transporting the shell to the massive gun, Jackie also mans a single M1917 to shoot down planes with.
Guns Removed From Final Cut
The following guns were removed from the original cut of the game but found in screenshots and early demos.
MAC-11
A MAC-11 both with and without a suppressor was originally in the game.
Glock 17
Another gun seen in early cuts is a 3rd Generation Glock 17 with Glock 18C compensator cuts in the slide and barrel. It was apparently going to be the sidearm of the NYPD.
