Let me clear up the confusion that the last editor and/or creator of this page might have caused. First off, the real Jesse James did '''''NOT''''' favor a [[Remington 1875|Remington Model 1875]]. That was his brother Frank. Jesse James' used a [[Smith & Wesson Schofield]] and [[Single Action Army|Colt Single Action Army]]. Next, Robert Ford used a nickel-plated [[Smith & Wesson New Model No.3|Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3]] revolver that Jesse James gave him as a gift to murder him (and I say "murder" because I respect Mister Jesse Woodson James and I find it difficult to believe that a spineless, chicken-shit coward like Robert Ford could ever be considered a hero). I'd also like to say that calling the gun that Ford (Darrell Wilks) uses in the film standing in for a New Model No. 3 a "Smith & Wesson .44 Double Action" is a poor idea. I'm not saying that the name of the page it links to should be changed, because Smith & Wesson made various models of .44 caliber double-action revolvers (and there were copies too, like the ones by Garate, Anitua y Cia.) in that particular period, but when they appear in a film, you need to try to verify the particular model that it is. The one in the film is a Smith & Wesson Model 1881. I have three of these, one in .44-40 WCF with a 6 1/2" barrel, one chambered in .44 Russian with a 4" barrel, and one in .44 Russian with a 6" barrel. I also have a very rare Smith & Wesson Double Action .44 known as the Smith & Wesson "Favorite" in .44 Russian (Only about 1,000 of them ever made and survival rate is very low). I know these just as well as I would any other "Wild West" gun. Now I'm done "nagging". I hope you will forgive me, but I tend to get excited about these kind of things. Anyway, those of you out there who would plan to do more improving to any Western film pages, I recommend you do your homework first. Get all of the information you can on a model and make 110% sure that you know what you are talking about before you go dismissing a certain gun as on particular model when it could in fact be another. So far, this sights been okay at doing that. I just want to make sure that the information is right too (and I don't know everything, so if I get something wrong and you are sure of it, not only correct it, but tell me about it too.) All the common Old West guns are fairly simple to identify, but the lesser-known weapons like the Forehand & Wadsworth take a little more effort to identify. I challenge all of you to read up on all the Old West guns that you can if you ever find the time. I understand if you don't have time, but those of you out there who do, especially the teenagers on this sight, go ahead and try doing this and you just might learn something.

Next, Robert Ford used a nickel-plated Smith & Wesson New Model No. 3 revolver that Jesse James gave him as a gift to murder him.
