== Training grenade image on main page == | |||
According to [http://www.inert-ord.net/usa03a/usa2/mk2sp/index.html this], the training grenade image on the main page with a different body shape is actually a replica: the WW2-era training grenades used a standard HE body because the original Mk 2 had a base-filling plug so you could stick a little gunpowder charge in it so it went bang but didn't blow up, throw on a standard fuze and give it a wood or cork base plug and away you went. The later ones (M21) were a special body with a hole because the HE grenade didn't have one anymore, but they still seem to have been roughly the same shape. Training grenade image on main page
According to this, the training grenade image on the main page with a different body shape is actually a replica: the WW2-era training grenades used a standard HE body because the original Mk 2 had a base-filling plug so you could stick a little gunpowder charge in it so it went bang but didn't blow up, throw on a standard fuze and give it a wood or cork base plug and away you went. The later ones (M21) were a special body with a hole because the HE grenade didn't have one anymore, but they still seem to have been roughly the same shape.
