The Sjögren was invented in 1908 and approximately 5000 were produced within its year of production and it did see service in both World Wars. The weapon was used by both Allied and Central Power forces during the first World War and was used by resistance movements during the second. The Sjögren was a unique shotgun for its time, not only being a semi-automatic like the [[Browning Auto-5]], but also because it utilized the inertia system used in many modern shotguns.
