The movie was probably the first film of this kind in the (ex-) USSR, and for a long time almost the only one due to the lack of particular popularity of such a topic. However, as might expect, the movie itself was mostly about spyfare, and zombies figure in it are superficially.

Variant "Zombie" (Original title: Вариант "Зомби") is a 1985 Soviet spy movie. A powerful fascist-type organization is conducting experiments on the inhabitants of an African country to create parapsychological weapons for mind control. But the method of memory restoration and treatment of mental neuroses, developed by the Soviet professor Lesnikov, is becoming a serious threat to the group.

The movie was probably the first film of this kind in the (ex-) USSR, and for a long time almost the only one due to the lack of particular popularity of such a topic. However, as one might expect, the movie itself was mostly about tradecraft, and zombie themes in it are superficial.

The following weapons were used in the film Variant "Zombie":

StG-44 (Mocked-Up as M16)
