Where this goes
I think this should be merged into the Rules, Standards and Principles page.--Oliveira 14:48, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Being the first page of the Fictional firearms listing, it helps new members to not have to wade through the entire rules listing to see it. Also it keeps visitors from being confused as to the separate listing of these weapons. Just because we all know the rules doesn't mean that visitors can quickly figure it out, it helps to segregate it when it helps the new visitors figure out how we are organizing things MoviePropMaster2008 19:11, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, so there is going to be more pages about fictional firearms? Ok then. I didn't know that.--Oliveira 19:24, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

a few months ago i made a halo page. ok none of the weapons exist but i recently found a movie called HALO: landfall its directed by Neil blokamp the same guy as district 9. maybe does this make it qualify for the site. not the game but the movie. they are all based off of the halo guns. smish34
i have no idea. also were you the one that commented on my discussion page about how i think the halo b,rifle looks like an XM8 an FAMAS. but they fully fire on the film. watch it on youtube.
- Yeah, I did say that. I also watched the film. The weapons were all obviously fake props or airsoft replicas. The Muzzle flashes were all CGI. I think the only weapon that looked real was the Minigun on the back of the jeep. We'll need more users to come and watch the film to see if the weapons are built on real guns.--Oliveira 18:40, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
ok thats a good idea
Shouldn't this page be locked from editing? --AdAstra2009 19:34, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Doom BFG
- According to the criteria for fictional weapons the (Doom) - BFG should be deleted. Mainly rule # 5 >"Fantasy weapons which have no basis in real weapons technology do not belong here. So a Force Lance from "Andromeda" or a Klingon Disruptor from "Star Trek" or a Light Sabre from "Star Wars" do not qualify. No one would ever wonder if these weapons really exist today. " --AdAstra2009 19:44, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree. That page is very educational and the BFG has appeared in the Doom movie and the gun has been referenced in popular culture a lot. It should stay.--Oliveira 20:42, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
You are disregarding the fact that the BFG is disqualified from being on IMFDB via the rules regarding the listing of fictional firearms. --AdAstra2009 21:26, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- You know what? Fuck it. It's a interesting page and all that but fuck it. I already fight enough with people on Wikipedia over pages. Delete it.--Oliveira 21:41, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- haha wow Oliviera --AdAstra2009 21:54, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- And to think, Oliviera doesn't believe there is profanity on IMFDB? LOL! Actually there IS a rule which 'may' apply to the BFG which is "If the weapon (for any reason) would lead the general public to believe that it is a real firearms or based on one. And it does.
Turok (2008)
I had made a page for the Turok reboot a while ago which got nuked. But to be honest, should the page be brought back.
I mean the grenades are obvious M61s, the minigun is basically a GEM134 that looks futuristic, and the rocket launcher is a Stinger with the rocket of an RPG-7. Yeah the pulse rifle, sticky gun, and flamethrower are fictional, but the pistol, submachine gun, and shotgun look like they could have been modeled after real guns, or the developers took real guns and just modified them to look futuristic. But I want other people's input first. - User:1morey December 26, 2012 9:51 PM (EST)
- The grenade I'll give you, but the minigun and rocket launcher are stretches. You can make the same arguments for every sci-fi shooter out there, and the answer has always been a resounding "no." --Funkychinaman (talk) 00:04, 27 December 2012 (EST)
- And if you want to cite precedence, Halo pages have been deleted on four occasions, and are mentioned by name in the rules, Killzone pages were deleted on three occasions (and eventually lead to a lifetime ban for a user.) --Funkychinaman (talk) 00:10, 27 December 2012 (EST)
If ...
Well nowadays energy based weapons (blaster, laser, etc) are not allowed in this site. But... if someone invent one of these, and they start to appear in movies,videogames... i mean not generic EBW but REAL weapons like ZM-87 or the Silent Guardian (which appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops II will these become allowed.--Dannyguns (talk) 10:24, 2 May 2017 (EDT)
- If it would appear, then, and only then we'll speak about it. Currently it's senseless. Greg-Z (talk) 10:41, 2 May 2017 (EDT)
